I got nothing but a day or two in nearby Manitou Springs is really fun. The mountain zoo is super cool, you can get really close to all the rocky mountain animals, the Incline, native cliff dwellings, Red rock canyon, drive to the top of Pikes Peak...

TC, search Colorado Springs on google maps satellite images. You can use the street view or overhead to find places,then look at their menu/prices and food/drink pics. Won't take long to see what most places offer for what price.

I remember being in a cab there like ten years ago. I asked the driver if there were any areas to avoid and he said mostly just colfax.

Colfax is mostly fine now, except near the state and city capital downtown, the homeless have totally overrun Civic Center Park. There isnt much night life there though. Also once you get several miles East on Colfax toward Aurora, that is the real shit hole part of Denver
