So I posted here about how my roommate ditched the place and left like a waist high pile of trash in his room. I tried bagging it up but its so freaking much so Im tempted to just move my shit out and abandon the place. I only ever signed a 6 month lease and that was almost 2 years ago. Im tempted to give up my security deposit and leave.

any advice?

Dont do that because they will take your full deposit and then youll pay on top of that for them to clean that place out, at premium prices.

Just hire a cleaning service for $200 instead of getting blacklisted from any reputable company for the next 7 years minimum.

You won't be able to use your current landlord as a reference when finding a new place.

Its just a place owned by some dude who has a lot of properties, theres no rental company involved.

An old fashioned thing that really doesn't exist anymore. Only thing I ever needed was paystubs to show I could pay for it

idk, it just seems like a shitty thing to do to saddle the guy you've been renting from with a gigantic mess like that, did your roommate sign with you or your landlord? If you subletted, he and his mess are your responsibility.

If you want thousands of dollars to go to small claims courts followed by being garnished from your wages you can. But, that would also make it EXTREMELY difficult to rent again or buy in the next decade or so.

If its garbage like that, the company they hire to do the cleaning will be in hazmat suits lol.

If he did a credit check on you he's likely using the same service most use, will report you and leave you scewed from renting in the future and still having to pay more than what the cleaning service will charge you.

Just hire one. It's cheaper than whatever your security deposit was.
