God damn that was not fun. It was so strange. I was just on YouTube and got a weird but intense de ja vu feeling and then my mind just started spiraling and this feeling of fear and dread captured me. Explain yourself, evolution. How dare you

Do you ever have panic attacks? I was able to remember to breathe and close my eyes. It really helped. But seriously what the fuck

I do the same thing around animals. I get this irrational fear that the next one will be the one who gets me. My first panic attack, I swear it was at the zoo. I was eight and we went to the zoo with my parents and grandparents. I walked around, looked at the animals, and I turned to my parents and said, I think Im going to die.

They looked down at me, and I explained: I was seeing scary animals. My mom told me I was safe. But we stopped the zoo that day. Im scared of dogs, cats, snakes. Sometimes Ill turn a corner and hear a growl and think Im going to die. I can get panicky just being outside in the summer. Ill get this sick, shaky feeling that is more than just fear, and it makes me physically ill. I have a really hard time functioning, I know.

Gosh, that sounds awful. Did something in the past happen with animals that was bad?

Well yeah, we have all sorts of wild things out there. You think it's scary when a dog goes after a cat? You haven't seen a bear going after a dog. A bear is like a very large dog and can really tear a dog to pieces. That's one of the reasons I don't get a dog. I haven't been attacked yet, but I get my dogs from the vet. I like to have them checked over before bringing them home. I don't want any surprises.

"You get them from vets?" you might ask.

"Yeah," I'd say, "just like I do this new pet store out in town. They're expensive, but they're good." If you don't like the look of a pet, you can get rid of it at the first sign of trouble. Don't let anyone get your pet from one of those pet stores. You know the kind. I've seen them sell dogs in places where they've gotten mixed with wolves. The pet store owners don't even care.

I've had panic attacks with disassociation for a decade and a half. It's, like, kind of lame, man.

I used to get pretty bad ones as a small child. They'd wake me up in the middle of the night, and all I could do to relive it would be to pace up and down the upstairs hallway. I had a couple of mild ones about a month ago. I wonder if they had anything to do with the fact that I got high for the first time in 4 years 2 days before hand.

I had a severe one back in 2019 that fucked up my body and health for the rest of the year. Thank fuck I've since recovered and eliminated the stress from my life. I don't even want to think about 2019 anymore.

Had my first panic attack deep into the pandemic. Spending 5 to 7 days a week seeing nobody else kind of unhinged me for a while.

Maybe there wasnt enough carbon dioxide in your system and you could have breath into a paper bag to get levels back up.

Same, and several times since but I'm mostly okay now. I still do slip occasionally though, had one a few months ago that landed me in the ER, heart rate over 150 and blood pressure through the roof. I don't like to admit it but the the pandemic really did a number on me, and I didn't even catch COVID.
