I would..

you'd be surprised at how often cashiers can forget to ring something in yet people say NOTHING and just take it with them like nothing happened even though they got it for free..though it won't work for electronics but often people get away with it with household items or food..

So if a cashier forgot to ring something up for you, would you say something and pay for it or say nothing and take it for free? let's see what people will pick

On the off chance that I don't use self checkout and I actually notice before leaving, sure.

I'm rarely ever paying attention to what is getting rung up.

If I don't find out until I get home I keep it and I don't pay attention to them ringing it up, but I would say something if I did notice.

I don't feel bad about it either, I didn't steal it, I got it for free because of an employee error. Obviously that doesn't apply if you see it didn't ring up.

Most of the time customers wouldn't notice either.

If I see it, I generally mention it.

But yeah, a lot of places have self-checks now so it's not so much an issue.

I am such a damn honest person that one day I was at my local card shop and they forgot to ring up a playset of something and I WENT BACK to pay for it.

I'd remind them. I work in a grocery store, and I understand how lost revenue can hurt a business.

I'll usually point it out unless the cashier is being stupid.

I used to go to a supermarket that had a water bottle filling station and I'd fill 9-12 three-gallon bottles at a time. They always charged by the gallon, not by the bottle. When I'd get to the register I'd say something like "I have 9 three-gallon refills, that's 27 gallons." Roughly half the cashiers would reach for a calculator even though I just told them the answer, and one fourth would either take my word for it or do the math in their head. But the remaining quarter would ring up 9 gallons even though I just told them 27. And when they did that I'd just shake my head and not say a word. If the store is going to hire a cashier who is too dumb to listen or do math, then they deserve to lose money.

It's not like the store was paying much for the water, it was literally tap water run through an RO filter so it couldn't possibly cost them more than a couple cents per gallon. Even if I was paying only 1/3 of their actual retail price they still made an excellent profit.

Pretty much this. Same with ringing something up as the wrong item (usually because of similar-looking produce), though often the prices are similar enough that I don't bother (like zucchini vs. field cucumbers).
