Man fan died at the room shot up to 98 degrees. The man's wife screamed and ran for her life, not stopping until she was in a far corner of the house where no one could see her.
The heat wave had started that morning. It wasn't supposed to be this bad so soon into summer. People were dying left and right, their bodies overheating like they'd been dipped in boiling water. And it only got worse from there...
"Ugh..." I groaned as my body temperature spiked again. This time, though, I didn't even have any clothes on. All that remained now was an unbuttoned shirt with nothing underneath it. A breeze blew through the window behind me, cooling off some of the sweat dripping down my back.
My thoughts turned dark once more. If I'm going to die anyway, then why bother trying? Why try to live when you're just going to end up dead sooner or later? What use is living if your life will never amount to anything but misery? That's what I thought about most every day since I first came here. But today was different. Today, I felt something else. Something warm, tingling, and electric.
I've always wanted to do great things. To accomplish great feats. To make history. So many people told me how amazing I would become somedaybut I never believed them. After all, I was still stuck in a world where everyone dies young. How can anyone ever expect someone who doesn't know any better to believe in dreams bigger than themselves? No matter how much I tried, I couldn't get myself excited over it. In fact, I used to think that maybe I wouldn't be able to achieve greatness after all. Maybe I really am destined to die before I grow old enough to do anything meaningful.

Who knew that increasing the degrees by one would make the story so much more dire.

There I fixed it
Man fan died at the room shot up to 97 degrees, but he was a man with an iron will and didn't flinch even when his body temperature reached 100. He could have been killed by that heat wave alone if not for this.
"I'm fine... I'm gonna be okay..."
The man's voice had no strength left in it, and his face was pale as death. But despite all of that, he still tried to stand.
He stood there for a while like that before collapsing into unconsciousness. It looked like he'd pass out soon.
But thenhe started breathing hard again.
"...!"
Kamijou Touma sensed something off about him, and he turned around. The air conditioner wasn't running anymore; the window glass hadn't been replaced yet; and the door was wide open. That meant they were completely exposed to the outside world now. If someone happened to come along, they would definitely find them here.
That said, Kamijou couldn't just leave the man lying on the floor. So instead, he grabbed the man's hand and dragged him toward the bathroom. After getting inside, he pressed down on the sink faucet. Water gushed from the shower head, making the tub fill quickly enough to keep both their bodies afloat.
Then he wrapped towels around himself, trying to dry off any sweat or bloodstains. Once he finished doing so, he went back over to the man.
It seemed like he'd passed out once more, but he was alive. And given how much water he must have lost through sweating and crying, he probably wouldn't die right away. Still, he needed medical attention.
After checking to see if anyone else was coming, he opened the bathroom door and put the man's arm across his shoulders. Then he carried him to where Index lay collapsed in front of the entrance hall.
Once they got close, Index finally came to her senses. She slowly sat up, looking dazed.

Last time I have no idea who any of these people are;
Man fan died at the room shot up to 97 degrees.
"What are you doing? It's too hot!" The girl who had been complaining about it for a while yelled and ran away from him. "I'm going to get water."
"Hm?" Kamijou was surprised, but he didn't stop her. He just watched as she went inside. She must have gone into one of those stores that sells drinks in plastic bottles.
Kamisato clapped his hands together loudly, then looked around like he was searching for something. Then he said, "This is where we part ways...Well, I guess this isn't really good-bye or anything. We're still friends, after all."
"...Yeah," answered Kamijou with a nod. But he couldn't help thinking: What if we aren't? If they were enemies right now, would things turn out differently...? Would the world be better off? Or worse?
But there was no time for such thoughts. In any case, Kihara Yuiitsu wouldn't attack them here. They needed to move on quickly.
He turned back toward the hotel. However
The hotel lobby was already filled with people. There was a crowd gathered around the entrance. That meant someone important was coming.
It wasn't an announcement over the loudspeaker; instead, a large number of people came walking through the front door.
First came three men wearing suits. Their clothes seemed expensive enough to make Kamijou think it might be some kind of business meeting. Next came two women in fashionable dresses. One wore sunglasses despite being indoors. The other was holding a parasol against the sun. After that came four more men and women carrying bags. And finally
A man dressed in a tuxedo walked up to the reception desk. His hair was slicked down by sweat, and his face was flushed red.
His name was Mr. Tsuchimikado.
"Mr. Touma! Did you come here because of me?!"
"Huh?! Why would you say that?!" Kamijou cried, taken aback.
Tsuchimikado gave him a look like he'd done something wrong. "...Why do you ask?"
"N-no reason..."
