Ive played quite a bit so far, got to the Sundom then turned around and went to the Frozen Wilds expansion.

Im playing on the hardest difficulty it let me, which has been pretty fun and rewarding, but I have a few nitpicks:

• Why is the roll distance, even the extended roll, so short?

• In battles with 3 or 4 allies, the bots pretty noticeably prioritize Aloy, that can be pretty annoying when you die in two hits and get hit from all sides.

• Why have these cool gadgets like tripwires and proximity bombs, but then limit you to like 8 at a time before they just start disappearing?

Cool game, some of the lore stuff has been the best post apocalyptic fiction Ive read in a while.

Played on normal. None of your concerns bothered me and seem to make some sense from a game design standpoint, but yeah, you don't die in 2 hits on normal!

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this. Like you said, the overarching lore is pretty good but I was a bit unimpressed by the actual plot/characters of the game.

The lore stuff is fantastic. I think one of the big things about Horizon is that it's just a normal game done really well, none of it is super mind-blowing but it's just a fun game to play.

also go for all the vantage points. the lore from that is the best sidequest reward in the game imo

enjoyed uncovering the plot, but didn't enjoy the open world design or much of the combat all that much

the snow DLC was a lot better though

The game took some getting used to. It favors a more aggressive ranged approach than what I was used to.

building the warbots was pretty bad, but honestly I don't blame him for wanting to shut down the artemis project or whatever the heck it was called.
