Even as a kid when I watched the movie in 2007 before it became meme status I thought that the scene along with Drive that funky soul song playing in the background was funny.

It was funny in a really silly, campy way. People disliked that mostly because it happened in a story that's supposed to be about Peter descending into darkness, insecurity, and rage. So somehow that translated to him going around acting like a dude who frequents hipster jazz clubs and sometimes starts yelling.

It was cringe. The whole movie was a mess.

I was 15 and wanted it to be epic. plus I had to sit through the rest of the movie. it's funny in clips now, though.

2 is definitely better but 3 doesn't deserve all the hate it gets

Dark Peter is hysterical. He's supposed to be dark and edgy, but he ends up being what a nerd thinks dark and edgy looks like. All he's missing is a katana and fedora lmao.

It's hated because it wasted so much potential. I think SM3 could have been pieced out into two or three great ideas for a Spider-Man movie, but all the good stuff sadly got combined into one dreadfully mediocre film that didn't pay proper service to any of its characters.

The worst part of it was Venom. He never even existed as his own character, really; he was just Eddie Brock (who was really just Topher Grace) in a suit that happened to look like a little bit like Venom. He even referred to himself as "I" while in full costume, which was...just...utterly offensive to me.

Thank God we finally got a proper Venom incarnation with Tom Hardy, otherwise I'd still be very upset about how dirty they did my favorite Spider-Man character in SM3. If you ever want to see Venom as he's supposed to be, watch Venom (2018). It may have left Spider-Man out of the origin story, but the actual Venom/Eddie Brock dynamic was near-perfect, and Venom himself is exactly like he's supposed to be.
