I've been trying to get my fill of PS1 classics before the PS3 store goes away, and I was shocked to find I didn't enjoy Toomba! or Klonoa at all after hearing good things about them for years. I like almost all platformers except for Crash Bandicoot (I love like 70% of the games, but whoever designed some of those pixel perfect jumps can go straight to hell). What might I have missed out on?

One I never hear about is called Wild 9. The main gimmick was that you couldn't kill enemies directly. You had a grappling laser thing that let you grab enemies. You could either slam them into the ground a few times or shove them into environmental obstacles.

I haven't played it since I was a kid, so it might be garbage though.

outside of nintendo, the early 3d era has really bad platformers overall. obviously the huge standout is sm64. they became more popular when cameras were improved in ps2 era, with game series like R&C and Jak but those have a lot of shooting

honestly, pure platformers arent even really common to begin with outside of nintendo. Most platformers on other systems and companies incorporate other elements like story or plot

There were so many weird games for the ps1 and ps2, I wish I could remember names. There was one where you controlled a little girl and her scarf, and she defeated her bimbo sisters(?) by pulling their nipples (with the scarf's hand), thus making their boobs grow, until they (the boobs) exploded, thus defeating the sister.

Also some cel-shaded game where you play as an alien that plays pranks on people?

Jinx was decent on PS1, but went largely unnoticed due to coming out more than two years after the PS2 released.

I actually came in to suggest Wild 9. Was pretty fun from what I can remember.

Ape Escape is also a classic.

You guys are triggering my PS1 nostalgia. Just to tack onto that more, I'll add in Oddworld: Abe's Odyssey.

Platformers on the PS1 - I've enjoyed all these.
Croc - legend of the gobbles - 2 games, both are great fun.
Pandemonium
Bugs Bunny - Lost in Time
Tail Concerto - more of an adventure game but good.

The DragonBall game on the GBA is fucking awesome. Just DragonBall, before DBZ. It has Kid Goku

Dragonball - Advanced Adventure, that's what it's called. Really good game
