Believe it or not, people like reggae, and not just stoners. I know, I don't get it either.

Lots of people like reggae.

I don't know if it's a related factor, but reggae got big with Counter-Strike modded servers.

Blue Ark in GTA V is actually one of my favourite in game stations.

It probably helps that I went to college with a guy who ran a Reggae station and he always had that shit blasting in the work room.

It's like asking why there are a few death metal or trance/house music stations.

Different tastes.

In addition to just providing some welcome variety, I have to imagine the licensing on a lot of reggae music is probably pretty affordable compared to other genres, allowing them to bolster their music library without breaking the budget.

I'm so glad they do. GTA 3 pretty much introduced me to Reggae and the subsequent games and other ones like the Scarface game showed me to more of it. Various video games introduced me to so much different music. I'm thankful for them. Variety is awesome.

It goes well with a lot of games, a lot of genres tend to fit a scene better than as just background music.

In GTA 3, all the songs on the reggae station are from this one album by Scientist. It's some great reggae/dub. Good music to get high to.

Scientist Rids the World of the Curse of the Vampires is one of the greatest reggae/dub albums ever.

Yeah that's the one. Normally I'm not too big on reggae/dub, but I really like this album.

Ohhh man. Spent a lot of time as a teen listening to KJah in a Yardie Lobo.

The reggae stations are always high on my list in GTA games. It just works so well for driving.

dub/reggae makes pretty good driving music in real life as well. Its relaxing.
