19 y/o Lifeguard, Keith Pinto was killed after he was struck by LIGHTNING while sitting on an elevated ALUMINUM TOWER while on the beach!!..

7 other people were injured including 3 lifeguards when lightning struck a Jersey Shore Beach in New Jersey

It happened at 4:35pm at the 21st Avenue Beach when thes tudent at Ocean County College was seated in the elevated aluminum chair

Vince Ruffalo told NBC he was close tot eh aluminum life guard stand when he felt a jolt and then THROWN off his feet and onto the and below

He said "Picture an explosion and an explosion happens all of a sudden, without giving you any warning, next thing you know you're on the ground and then you have an odor like burning hair. So it was very, very dramatic for us"

A sudden storm rolled in that day as other jersey beach goers were evacuated

Chief Meteorologist Dan Zarrow said Pinto was struck because he was sitting on an elevated chair that attracts lighting and it traveled through him through the chair on the ground and that is why anybody else nearby got zapped as well which is a scary situation

Friends and family paid tribute to the lifeguard who worked there over the summer to help pay for college as the beach will remain closed

Lightningrods are metal so... I avoid anything purely metallic during a thunderstorm (aluminum or otherwise) except for cars. I also would never be touching a source of water (rain aside).

I stay inside unless I feel like dying that day.
