Doug Jensen appeared Thursday morning at the Federal Courthouse in Des Moines while the judge in the case presided over the hearing remotely from Washington D.C. NBC4 News Scott MacFarlane reports Judge Timothy Kelly ordered Jensen back into custody after finding clear and convincing evidence that Jensen violated the terms laid out in the pretrial release agreement, which included having no access to the internet. Jensen was found watching a Mike Lindell video by a pretrial services officer, just 30 days after he was granted pretrial release. Doug Jensen's charges: Civil Disorder Obstruction of an Official Proceeding Assaulting, Resisting, or Impeding Certain Officers Entering and Remaining in a Restrict Building or Grounds with a Deadly or Dangerous Weapon Disorderly and Disruptive Conduct in a Restricted Bulding or Grounds with a Deadly or Dangerous Weapon Disorderly Conduct in a Capitol Building Parading Demonstrating or Picketing in a Capitol Building This is the guy who was leading the chase of Eugene Goodman up the stairs and away from the senate chambers. Indeed, by the defendants own account, Ms. Jensen left the iPhone on for the defendant when she went to work on August 13, thereby facilitating his violation. Thus, even if the Court were inclined to keep defendant on pretrial release, there are not suitable third-party custodians to supervise Jensen. And apparently, his wife is the one who left her iPhone on for him while she went to work so he could access the internet. Like despite breaking into the Capitol with an armed group while Congress was sitting, he was allowed to wait for his trial in the comfort of his own home. If he's into video games, he probably had enough access to offline video games to keep him occupied. He probably has DVDs and Blu-Rays to watch. He can watch TV for 24 hour entertainment. Even if he's under house arrest, he has all of the comfort and luxury that being at home provides, as opposed to waiting for sentencing in a jail cell. Like, I can't feel bad for this guy at all. It's hard to stay off the internet? Maybe he shouldn't have stormed the Capitol building with an armed group. Or shit, maybe he should have avoided the temptation to get himself in more trouble by staying in jail. --- But I don't have to make this mistake, and I don't have to stay this way.
