Infernal Grasp is really tickling the control player in me though..... it's the strongest targeted removal i think i've seen in quite awhile

I was thinking about making the topic again but I'm so overwhelmed with MtG cards, and it's not like I get to play anymore thanks to Covid. I used to look through every spoiler as they got threads on Reddit, read the comments on a few subreddits there or post about it on CE/the MtG board, but it's all hard to keep up with.

I took a break from Magic(I started playing in 2011) and only came back when I heard Emrakul was on Innistrad, so I was late for the first return to the Plane. Now I don't even get to play it on our 3rd trip :/

Liesa getting a new card was not on my bingo list. I thought Avacyn killed her and I doubt they'd do another Neheb(the BR one) situation where they make a card for a character that's already been dead in a not-Core Set Standard set. I like the alt art but the card isn't doing anything for me.

Right? and she's so much better than the CMR version. i just wish they could have found a way to make her fit into the AVR cycle better. 5/5 flying <black keyword> for 1WWB (and a reasonable drawback, as those stats are pretty nutty)

I've pretty much given up on mtg. I like the game, but not enough people near me to play it. Funny enough, I was chatting with someone over facebook over a review of a local magic shop. And the magic shop left a message which was straight out of amys baking company. Calling me a person who was purposely leaving negative feedback to make their shop look bad, and to get more people to come to my shop (which I don't own), or join my groups (which I'm far too busy for atm). Me and the other guy laughed at how bad it made him look. We laughed even harder when one of his patrons started flooding us with derogatory messages and how playing magic was for losers... on a facebook review page... about a mtg store... Don't know what he was trying to accomplish with that one.

Might give it a go in a few years when life starts to settle down again.

fallen empires to 4th was about 5 months. homelands to alliances about 8. good thing that "almost" should cover two instances in the first 4 years, 25 years ago.

I only count the main sets, but it is true that this year has 5 for whatever reason, so that's a good point. I started playing again with AFR and now the new Innistrad sets specifically because those were/are ones I'm interested in, though. It makes a lot more sense to just play when there are sets you're interested in and skip others.

it's probably to adjust the calendar to get a release closer to christmas.

i mean, it's both. they add, add, add products to the schedule, until the base stops buying everything. then they cull the stuff that was selling the least and start over.

you think? seems just ok to me. though, being Teferi, just ok is definitely the healthiest option. I guess he ramps pretty hard once you bring in a mana rock, though.

I like new Teferi. Even if he's just okay, I think he'll see play and I'm looking forward to playing with him, and not hating my existence when he comes down opposite me.

I really don't get the too many products complaint, unless you are a hyper competitive player who will only play with the best deck all the time. Or I guess if you have to collect every card. More stuff just gives you more choices, so just get what is fun for you.

And especially get into drafting. The drafts for the past few years have been either really good or just good enough at worst. Plus the last three standard sets have gone back to a lower power level without needing a bunch of bans. It is rotating into a fairly balanced format with Innistrad it looks like.

But seriously get into limited, especially with Magic Arena letting you do it for free. With COVID not wanting to leave that is really the main way to play in general.

Arena is the way to go with MTG these days, and it doesn't cost anywhere near thousands of dollars to keep current with that. i paid in 5 bucks for the welcome bundle when it first came out, and i was playing solidly through like 3 or 4 new set releases, and i never had to spend any more money to maintain 2-3 competitive decks at a time.

That's all I've spent on it, the first $5 and I've been playing since Day 1

Yeah, they came out pretty quickly. Excited, tbh, even though I almost never play much of the new cards. I have my 10 or so Historical Decks, and it's hard to find replacement for those cards I like.
