Just in case people get confused the Brazilian voice actress for Cortana died. Not Jen Taylor.

In all seriousness, part of the Spartan augmentation process involved the complete and total removal of all sex drive. Theyre sterile, and incapable of any feelings like that.

They were very young at the time, and had been kidnapped at the age of six, growing up in a military setting. And wouldve been killed had they refused.

ONI replaced the kidnapped children with imperfect clones, which was doubly fucked up. The clones would die fairly quickly. So as far as the parents are concerned, their children werent kidnapped. They died of health complications. But their actual children were taken by the government to become war machines.

And these war machines werent even to stop an alien threat! Several planets controlled by the UNSC were on the verge of seceding, so the UNSC created the Spartan program to squash any and all rebellion. They were made to kill farmers, essentially. Show them how pointless resistance was. Also because it was theoretically going to be easier to deploy one Spartan rather than a platoon of soldiers.

The Covenant showing up was just a coincidence, and Spartans were not made public beforehand.

Halo lore is pretty neat.

oh shit, i just assumed they switched voice actors for Halo 3 and 4(as it says she voiced her in 3 and 4). But I see no she did the brazil exclusive version of Halo only and Jen Taylor did all the first 4 in the english version

Same! I feel like Bungie dipped into the lore too little, and 343 goes the other way. 343 expects you to have read the books going into their games. Like the other Spartans showing up for Halo 5. Before then, it was VERY MUCH implied Chief was the only Spartan, or one of the last ones. Now theres several more, out of nowhere, and if you didnt read the books, youre confused.

Yeah it's a shame 343 hasn't quite figured out a good balance.

Halo 4 was all lore in all the wrong ways. Tbh I find the Forerunner stuff not very interesting. I don't want that stuff explained really.

So Halo 5 they decided to have a rather barebones plot so newcomers could understand...but then cram in a whole bunch of characters nobody would care about unless they read the books (I don't even know if Team Osiris were even in the books). So you had a mix of both that pleased no one.

Meanwhile the actual lore of organizations like ONI being these shadowy company that's delving in conspiracies just gets completely shelved.

I think Halo Infinite going with The Banished is a good idea but honestly at some point they really should actually go with a villainous human faction like ONI at some point. Halo 5 marketing teased that so much but it went nowhere.

Man I really need to read The Fall Of Reach again. I love that book. The Flood and First Strike are pretty good as well. I know I read Ghosts Of Onyx but I don't remember anything about it. I even have the Forerunner Saga, I bought those books years ago and I haven't even touched them.
