I've seen a million opinion pieces blindly speculating about why the gap exists, but no actual data. Not even a poll. The thing is that it's mostly low-paying jobs that work on a single shift so I cannot easily automate these. Like robots are expensive and they need to work a lot to be worthwhile. It's not as simple as nail wood to ground. Truth is we've had skilled labor shortages for a while because of the stigma associated with those jobs. Truck drivers in particular are seen as a shitty desperate job. In fact you need a lot of training, skills, and they're extremely difficult jobs.
