I would assume you have a taco shell holding a bun holding a sausage. For clarity, hot dog should refer to the assembly of encased meat nestled within the bun, while if you only mean the meat you should specify (hot dog) wiener/frank/sausage.

a hotdog bun is bread, usually a basic flour bread. a hotdog itself is a mixture of beef, pork, and chicken, or all beef, and they do have seasonings in them. you can also get hotdogs with cheese in them, or put cheese on yourself, as well as a variety of other condiments.

q.e.d: a hotdog is a taco. they even have the same shape style

I find this argument acceptable. I wasn't disputing the validity of the container. I wanted to call attention to the variety of ingredients held within it.

The shell is also a product of wheat, flour, egg, milk, etc... But the shell is a singular ingredient where the taco is concerned. Likewise the combined compounds of a hot dog are collectively a singular component when used in something else.

You phrased the question in a confusing manner. A taco is a completed taco. The addition of a hot dog into a completed taco doesn't make it less of a taco. If you meant a hot dog in just a taco shell then it is incomplete.

There are some distinctions. A taco is open. A taquito is rolled over itself leaving a flap. The outer structure of a strudel is usually continuous. Tacos and taquitos are made by adding a filling to an already prepared container. The container of a strudel requires further preparation after the filling is added.
