i couldn't get in to it. id land, spend 5 minutes looking for good weapons, spend another 5 minutes looking for someone to shoot, only to get blindsided by some dude across the map and then im out.

For the record, when I play I only build simple forts just for cover. I've beaten those super builders in a fight many times with classic aim and shoot.

I played like 5 round of that game and it was alright but not for me.

Best game I ever played was I decided to go the whole game without attacking anyone. So I landed, snagged a shit pistol, and sat in a bush the whole game.

I only had to move once and a lot of people ran past me but never saw me. Eventually I came in second place and then I uninstalled. I cant top that. Didnt fire a single bullet or anything until the final 2 where I got clapped

I've seen my 8 year old nephew doing the build strat when he gets hit and honestly there's a lot of technical shit that goes into it that makes fortnite have an interesting interaction especially late game.

It's honestly why I'm a CoD Warzone chud, is because this is the type of game I grew up with hence why I feel more comfortable playing in comparison to Fortnite.

I loved it back in like 2018 but theyve added so much dumb shit to it now to try and keep it relevant. I loved the simplicity of the older version.

It also sucks that everyone playing it is some try hard that builds the Great Wall of China within two seconds of you firing a shot anywhere near them

So glad that others in this topic feel the same about building in Fortnite as I do.

It's a pretty big crutch. I've lost count of the number of times I've ambushed someone from behind and shot them, only to have them spastically whip their controller in a circle while pressing the build button and instantly disappear within a 6 story mansion with 8 bedrooms, a hedge maze, and a working helipad and decorative fountain.

That's a crutch. When you get ambushed in any other shooter, 99.9% of the time you fucking die before you can save yourself. That's what being ambushed is.

Fortnite would instantly be a much better game if they implemented one simple rule: once your down to final 5, building is disabled for the rest of the match. Then you'd actually have to use your tactics and shooting skills to win, instead of what happens in every game of fortnite once you get down to the last few: everyone building towers at each other.

Their competitive mode is also a joke. They'll nerf or outright remove anything that counters building, no questions asked.

Imagine complaining about the most unique thing about Fortnite.

If youve actually played the game, you dont really ever actually build forts or bases unless you have a lot of free time, as the circle moves constantly so making permanent structures doesnt really make sense.

Usually all you have time to do is throw up basic walls and slopes, a simple tower maybe but mostly you have to use it more like you were a mage with wall magic, thinking on the fly and making shields out of walls/ceilings/slopes. Alternatively you build up to get the high ground advantage because how the camera works you can use this to see your enemy but they cant see you.

I havent touched it in about a year, only played because my nephew wanted me to. People camp in that more then they do in any CoD game.

I really wish Warzone wasn't a thing because I'm sick of battle royal modes.

Yeah I've seen matches where my nephew loses to a guy who is shooting on the ground while he's on his castle peaking out. Ultimately it's still about aiming and hitting your opponent, but the amount of cool stuff you can do with your buildings is what gives fortnite replay value. I just refuse to actually learn the building mechanic because I prefer to run and gun, hence why I'm not a big fan of the battle royale mode.
