KOTOR is pretty much universally loved so making any major story changes would be a terrible decision. I doubt they are gonna let this chick insert any of her ridiculous views into the game. They should treat this exactly like the recent Mass Effect remakes that just came out. Just make it prettier and don't change shit.

KOTOR is one of the most well renowned video games of all time. Not Star Wars games. Video games overall. There should be death traps to push people into that even hint of doing anything more than a mild polish on the dialogue and graphics. Then they go and give the writing to someone that has the old chip on her shoulder because patriarchy, people didn't love her waifu Rey, and general "I hate the old fans" sentiment. It's like it would be bad enough to hear about a remake of Casablanca or Citizen Kane, but finding they gave it to Michael Bay because everything needs 'splosions.

Side note, Rey's only problem is that most of her character traits were cribbed from Jaina in the books, but they didn't give her the likable, kind of Han solo like cocky, personality.

Second side note: Anikin gets a pass on Mary sue status because his story was a tragedy. Mary Sue is about going how great I am, and he was always going to be the one to fall despite that.

Luke became a master jedi with less than a minimum amount of training. His lightsaber training was taught to him by a fucking stormtrooper lol. He only had a few weeks total of training before facing another force user in combat, and still survived. That is an omega ass pull.

At least Reys feats make sense. Rey had 12 years of training with a staff, and a full year of training as a jedi by the time she was a knight lol. She already had 12 years of staff training under her belt before facing her first force user in combat (where she only won because he was severely wounded, and he specifically didn't want to kill her). Doesn't seem that crazy to me, tbh.

Luke got trained by a stormtrooper? What? He fought his father and got his chand chopped off....his dad wasn't trying to kill him either....

He lost many many races before then and everyone expected him to fail again. R2D2 piloted the ship maot of the time. Only thing anakin did I think was shoot the ship from the inside. Even after he says "R2 get us out of here".

But even with that said, a lot of people freakin hate young anakin anyways so he fits right in with mary rey sue

I don't think they will personally.

Considering she basically plans to usurp Malak with Revan and is the key to winning the battle for the Star Forge she goes a bit beyond a damsel in distress I think.

Although I could see them fleshing out what she does while she is stuck on Taris.

Yeah Rey was a decent character that was let down by the poor script. And she's far from the only character this is true for.

The fact that the hate (and I mean hate, not disappointment like with Finn) for the new trilogy characters falls almost exclusively on her, Rose and Holdo definitely reads as ingrained misogyny to me.

Its undeniable that a significant amount of the hate Rey gets was solely because she was a woman. Nobody hated the fact that literally everything Luke ever tried worked perfectly for him (and one of those things was jumping off a skyscraper)

I also thoroughly enjoyed TLJ and thought it was great. Its one of my favourites in the series.

Though from these tweets, she also seems like an ass. That doesn't mean the game won't be fine, but it means it'll be prime A targets for BS culture war crap from some very insecure snowflakes.

Luke is hanging on a radio antennae for his life with one hand about to die and thinks "I'll just think really hard and Leia will hear me" AND IT WORKS.

Bare minimum, Luke gets as much BS plot contrivances as Rey does. This doesn't even include him randomly getting a power boost in between Eps 5 and 6.

I really want to point out that many people defend Rey being a Mary Sue by saying that Anakin and Luke are Mary Sues and no one ever complained. I find the notion that no one ever complained about how Anakin or Luke's characters were handled to be a giant LOL.

Most people do not like Anakin and him generally being unlikable is a big reason why people don't like the PT. The funny thing is that he actually has the most established training of the three, but he is also the biggest failure of them all in the end.

I'm not going to defend kid Anakin blowing up a trade federation ship. That was flat out stupid. Winning the pod race I can sort of buy though, but eh.

Luke blowing up the Death Star in a New Hope was also a bit much.

Tbh a lot of the dialogue in that game hasn't aged very well. Especially some of the side characters like Juhani and Mission. It could really shine with re-recording and some minor rewrites.

The main plot and key moments with Bastila, Malak etc are pretty important and I think the new team knows it. I'm hopeful for the remake. People will be surprised by how physically small a lot of the game's areas are upon revisiting.

Calling Rey a Mary Sue is also ignoring many significant details.

The point is that Luke has the same amount of plot contrivance BS that Rey gets, but one gets a pass for it and one gets demonized for it. The extra context doesn't really matter in that sense.

But Luke doing the first thing that comes to mind is legit a part of his character. Him stopping for a moment to think for more than a second was part of the climax in Return of the Jedi.

Thats so copacetic. Kotor was always a madmans dream.
