The characters are unimportant and never matter. They are just collections of abilities. That said, Al/Papelne/Stoj is a great party on your first run. MrMallard 09/12/21 3:17:18 AM #13:	World of Final Fantasy, hands down. It goes on sale for cheap fairly regularly, it's an extremely solid purchase for $20. I got 45 hours out of it, including most of the endgame and side content. The graphics are fantastic on Switch, the dialogue is funny in that cheesy JRPG way with a self-referential twist, the monster capturing aspect is legitimately compelling in a way I haven't felt in a long-ass time and it's just an incredibly entertaining JRPG that won't break the bank and doesn't overstay its welcome. I feel a need to add a disclaimer on the monster capturing part - I usually don't like when games makes monster collecting a part of the experience. FFX-2 and XIII-2 left kind of a bad taste in my mouth in this regard. In this game, the levelling is incredibly well-developed and kind of addictive, the monsters are integrated into the gameplay though a stacking mechanic that augments your stats, and it's honestly a shitton of fun. Like if you're already into Final Fantasy, the fanservice is probably a big draw, and if you like Kingdom Hearts the story and character design will probably go a long way. But even without any of that, World of Final Fantasy is an incredibly solid JRPG that lasts for exactly long as it needs to.
