Nah, that was still more for him than Jesse.

The most honorable thing he did was run over those guys to save Jesse. That's the only time he hurt himself to help another

Honestly he does get a few honorable moments.

• Booting out Gale so Jesse will back off of Hank.
• Running over the guys to save Jesse.
• Offering to Skyler to turn himself in after Hank found out he was Heisenberg to make things go more smoothly.
• After Jesse found out about Brock, Walt offered to talk with him in a public place with no strings attached. Had Jesse not gotten freaked and backed out, this would've probably ended with Hank arresting Walt.

Some people complained about it because it was as close to "a perfect ending" as you could get. Plus it's kinda weird that after all that Walt died to a wound from his own gun

My only complaint about the last season is that the antagonist for the finale was a character only introduced halfway through it. Though I guess you could argue that the main one was Lydia.

Makes me think they got cold feet about turning Walt into a full blown villian and decided to give him a little bit of redemption instead.

I like the ending. The machine gun mechanism wasn't really more cartoony or goofier than some of the other moments in the show. It was always a bit over the top. It being a close "perfect ending" is fine. Season 5 was pretty good to me.

Mythbusters did a segment on that, it actually was fairly realistic.

It would've been grimy but had a lot more impactful of an ending. In the process of rising as a drug kingpin he wound up losing everything

The one that came to mind when I read the topic title is that scene where he threatens Skyler in front of the police, making himself look like an unrepentant piece of shit in front of his family just to give her plausible deniability.
