This is pretty neat. I love seeing old builds of games and spotting all the little differences >_>

tl;dw: Some of the differences include:
-You start out in Carrington Institute armed with a gun, but it goes right to the main menu with the first 3 missions of the final game
-different music
-different dialogue
-Enemies still use animations from Goldeneye
-Jo has different clothes and her boobs are smaller >___>
-Ammo UI is different
-Doesn't look like guns have a secondary function yet
-Text boxes make a really loud beeping noise when they appear
-Reloading is slower
-Mr. Blonde's voice is very different
-Cassandra's bodyguards in Mission 3 all carry CMP150s instead of shotguns

One of my favourite games. Its interesting to see the things they changed. 5 minutes in so far, I noticed (in addition to the things you mentioned) the guards had some extra dialogue lines that got cut as well. Wonder why. But yeah those UI messages making that beeping noise got annoying quick, glad they changed that.

Edit: also the glass bullet holes are smaller in the final game, and even though the player is playing on Agent, the dD office worker that you need to access the computer files for the Perfect Agent difficulty only is still present.

How did they make such a good game? Goldeneye was a great precursor. For what was to come.

Anyone here ever get the "opportunity" to play Perfect Dark on a console that didn't have the N64 expansion pack? It was nearly unplayable. I'm actually kind of surprised the game's reputation survived being like... base-PS4-Cyberpunk levels of janky without it.

You can't play it really. If you don't have the expansion pak, the only thing you can do is 2-player multiplayer matches and the combat simulator scenarios. You need the expansion pak to play the other 80% of the game >_>

This game was my life until I got my hands on Shenmue and a Dreamcast, then Halo CE brought me back to shooters

Here's an old promotional VHS of the game.....in spanish >_> Also, the audio is pitched down for some reason in this video idk why. It was definitely something that was edited in after the fact and the gameplay at the time isn't supposed to sound like that

The footage is clearer and you can see stuff like the beta UI and different weapons and enemies in different levels (like the Magsec and Datadyne Shock troopers appearing in Chicago). Animations also look like the final game, and aren't copy/pasted from Goldeneye like in the other video.

The most striking thing is that there's a Dragon in the 1st level and aiming with the Dragon lets you see and shoot through walls just like the Farsight

The E3 footage also showed the K7 Avenger, just called the Avenger here, but instead of that loud, mean sound it has in the final build, it sounds more like an alien blaster like the Callisto or Phoenix. Also the fire rate seems much lower.

Wonder if anyone asked Rare what their thought process was in creating an assault rifle sound that obnoxiously obliterates speakers and eardrums...
