I'm not gloating here at all. But seriously - Lin Wood and this Qanon ilk are their own disease. I'm trying to imagine how fucking awful it was for the hospital staff and families at this hospital.

I want you to stop engaging in apologia for this lady for just a moment and emotionally engage with the fact that because the phone lines were likely clogged with harassment, a lot of family members almost certainly unable to get easy updates on their family member's conditions. I want you to consider that this wall formed by Wood's deranged adherents only increased stress for the staff of a hospital doing the best it could to save people.

This woman deserves no sympathy and Lin Wood should be thrown into a prison. Consider the fact that these people fuck over everybody else before getting on your moldy soapbox about civility. They have none.

Yeah this is a fair take. I agree that their behavior has been terrible and deserves to be called out. Their deaths should be used to show how ridiculous and dangerous their ideology is.

The only time its sad when any of these people die is when they end up orphaning their children.

And how many family members do you think she left behind? Her death will cause sadness to those who were close to her. It doesn't have to be sad to you personally, but you can acknowledge the reality that death is often a sad thing.

I don't want to see anti maskers and ant vaxxers die. I don't want to see anyone die. I want to see them drop the ridiculousness of acting like they shouldn't do anything to combat covid. The only good thing that can or should come from these deaths is that those close to them realize the seriousness of the pandemic and take the necessary steps to protect themselves.

Eh give her a break. She renounced that stuff at the start of the pandemic and has explained many times how she got caught up in some borderline right wing stuff and how she regrets it.

I don't see any point in you bringing up that past stuff especially when moving forward she doesn't seem interested in continuing it. She's one of the few people on this board who has actually been working in a hospital and doing what she can to treat these people so maybe again just cut her some slack here.

She isn't to blame at all for people continuing to fail to take steps to protect themselves from covid.

I dunno. Not wanting to feel stupid has quite often played a part in seeking education, from what I've seen. Worked wonders for advertising.

Making someone else feel stupid almost never convinces anyone of anything and just makes you feel better, but the reality of the problem continues.

I'd argue if you've successfully made someone feel stupid, you've already konvinced them of something. Otherwise they wouldn't feel stupid. Only challenged, at best.

That is kind of different though. Motorcycle helmets aren't necessarily gonna do much if you've been ejected from a motorcycle. They're still pretty deadly with a helmet. My state has never required helmets.

Quite frankly, if you're at the point of being in a motorcycle accident with or without a helmet then you're gonna be in serious trouble. There is a lot a person can do to better ensure their safety while riding a motorcycle that has nothing to do with helmets.

Like eye protection is clearly a much more necessary safety device for motorcycle riding than a helmet although helmets do tend to come with eye protection. Eye protection is like always (or nearly) required in states that don't require helmets.

What a god damn stupid post. Helmets do work. My father would be dead after a lady pulled out in front of him if he wasnt wearing a helmet.
