I was cutting through a small town out in the middle of nowhere. It's a small rural town with a speed limit of 30, basically nestled on the highway. So you're going 60mph, then you slow down to 30, hit the stop sign, then it opens back up to 60 again.

After the stop sign, I started to speed up again, as the 55mph sign is probably 1000 feet from the stop sign. I even see the police car posted up right in front of the 55mph sign, but I didn't think about it because I figured he was there to catch people who don't slow down in time coming INTO town, rather than leaving town. I begin to raise my speed as I approach the sign (it's no more than 200 feet away from me at this point and I'm definitely outside the town at this point (no more houses or residences or other hidden driveways or anything like that)) when the lights start to flash and he gets me for going 45 in a 30 (as I'm pulled over like right on the other side of the 55mph sign)

He asked why I was speeding, I was honest and just said I was in the process of raising my speed to reach 55 on the way out of town back onto the highway. Takes my license and registration, asks about past tickets, is all the information current, etc.

Good news is he takes my stuff back for a minute or two, guess everything checked out, he came back and let me off with a warning, not just for the speed but also because I moved a year ago and still haven't updated my license. He pointed out he had his trainee with him, so I'm pretty sure he was just showing his trainee the basics about how to pull people over, as well as where the perfect spots to camp for speeders are.

It is what it is. I was gonna get my license updated tomorrow but I have a flight early next week and I don't want to be one of those people who pulls out the temporary license on a sheet of paper.

That's weak as hell. There is a state highway i use to cross Missouri and there are a bunch of towns like that on it where you better be paying attention to the speed signs

Those are called speed traps.

If you ever drive into a rural town slow down immediately. Those speeding tickets are their main source of revenue.

I do obey the law. The sign clearly says:

SPEED LIMIT "Whatever The Fuck I Say It Is" MPH
