Why do they keep calling me to do it? I went like over 30 years of my life without one. And had now had two within like a year or two of each other They need to stop with this

Edit: the title was suppose to be I got a jury summons Again! But it removes my ellipses if I dont space them in the title

Idk What I do know is that they did try to send a few to my old house halfway across the country before. I should have never gotten my CDL

ok, i googled it and while it varies from place to place - you actually can receive like infinite summons since it's completely random, but if you do serve on a jury you get a 1 year exemption.

I'm pretty sure that you only have to do one every 3 years or something like that so you can probably get an exemption.

The last time I got one was like in my early 20s. I'm 35 now

If it helps, I'm not registered to vote, so they probably think I'm hardly fit for a jury

I got one once. Screw it though. Literally wouldn't be able to afford rent taking that time out of work.

I think I started getting them after I got my CDL Because old license (which was actually an upgraded provisionals license that was also expired, but not really because I was in the Air Force) had my old address So, I didnt get them. Getting my CDL changed everything, though

I just rather be at work. It was so long, and kind of boring sitting there for so long. I was just lucky to find a seat next to someone I knew and could talk to

If they put "you did such a good job the first time, we'd love to have you back!" in the letter, wouldn't you feel just a teensy-weensy bit flattered, though? Go on, admit it!

I learned two important lessons from the time I did jury service: (1) bring a good book with you, and (2) seeing how the system works close up will seriously dent your faith in it.

A co-worker who was there last time I went got chosen. And hat he told me about the case he was on already made me lose a bunch of faith in the system

I have yet to receive a single summon, and I'm unsure whatfor really. It might not matter, because that saves me from telling them about how much I believe in jury nullification, or explaining to everyone what it means.

This is what happened with my friend/co-worker. He said they had to give the guy a not guilty verdict, even though they were pretty positive he did it...

got excused my first time.

2nd time I had moved over a year before, and it wasn't even for the same county. (it was for oakland for some reason, instead of bay area).

third time was a little over a year ago... just texted an automated system each day, and ended up not having to go.

Pretty sure just showing up gets you a 1-2 year reprieve. Serving is more than that. However, there's your state jury and and the federal. They don't count against one another.

I got lucky. They removed the case from the jury docket. Stand since I. Already missed half the work day and put in the time off request, I guess I have a free day off. That said, I think I was right about how quick the summons arrived. Last time I form it super early. Like a couple weeks, at least. But IIRC, it was definitely a whole before it was suppose to take place. This one, I got last Friday. So, 4 days ago. And when I called today to see if I had to go, at the end, they said that all requests for exemptions and disqualifications had to be addressed in writing at least 7 days prior. And that would be hard to do if you didnt get the summons until 4 days prior
