4 is one of my top 3 games of all time, it's amazing

the story is whatever, but the farming, combat, and crafting are tied together intricately with each one of them being relatively deep on their own

there's a lot of endgame progression too, with multiple ways of getting stronger at any point in the game because of the robust crafting system that lets you make and customize incredibly powerful gear

How does it compare to Stardew Valley @agesboy

rf4 has far better combat and crafting, but stardew has better vibes and a more relevant overworld

stardew is a more chill traditional experience that's like traditional harvest moon but better (and has multiplayer), rf4 is a proper fusion of farming, combat, and rpg progression. there's tons more weapon types, statistics, skills, spells, special effects on gear, etc. there's even monster taming and you can tame all but like 4 enemies in the game (humans and one immobile boss) to make them party members

if you're in the mood for farming and combat there's really no better game out there than rf4, but stardew's probably easier to just zone out in if you just want farming because it's more straightforward

Sick that sounds sweet. I liked the dungeon mine in Stardew but found it lacking

It's already out in Japan, and the impressions I've heard so far have been pretty bad. Lots of major bugs and performance issues, and even if you slough through them, I don't think the game is particularly great either. That may have since been remedied with patches, since I haven't been following it closely, but it's sounding like quite the disappointment after how incredible 4 was.
