Even the Dark Lord of all Siths probably thinks that was a f***ed up thing to do. Seriously, couldn't he have spared the younglings while still accomplishing his goals?

The only explanation that really makes sense is that falling to the Dark Side corrupts you to the point where you no longer have morals and you change as a person.

Although why Palpatine crowning him as Vader was the actual thing that made him completely fall still doesn't really make sense.

Still Force-sensitive. Palpatine still wanted the Force suppressed and diminished in numbers, even those who could be manipulated into the dark side

Okay but follow this logic from Anakin's perspective.

First he thinks the Jedi are unfairly going to depose and assassinate Palpatine. He stops them and kills Mace Windu in the process.

Palpatine immediately crowns him a fellow Sith Lord. Okay. Maybe at this point he still thinks that the Sith are better than the Jedi thanks to Palpatine.

Then at some point (off screen I think?) he's ordered to eliminate all Jedi including children. Despite he himself waking up as a Jedi that morning this doesn't seem to register as anything to be suspicious over and follows it without question.

We definitely skimmed over a major part of his character development to go from Jedi to Jedi Child Killer.

Him killing kids was like a test to see if he really would fully commit to the dark side (which he did) or if he was chicken.

Also messed up is Anakin slaughtering an entire tribe of Tusken Raiders and telling Padme he killed them all and shes like k, lets get married and do it. Makes padme look like an awful person

Episode 1 really bogged the story down in uselessness. The trilogy could have started in episode 2, and then 3 could have been two parts: beating grievous and order 66, then an entire movie around Anakin falling deeper and deeper into the dark side, with the temple massacre being the final act to show just how far he had gradually fallen. Each new atrocity should have been shocking. Instead we go from "what have I done!?" remorse to "cold-blooded child murder" within a handful of minutes.

Didn't he kill the younglings because he wanted all the Jedis to pay or whatever? On top of being denied master, they also made it difficult for him to figure out what might cause Padme to die according to his vision. It was meant as a petty revenge and the final proof of proving his complete loyalty to the dark side. Also didn't all the siths except him die too?

That would explain why he would want to get rid of the leadership. Not really his fellow Jedi or the ones underneath them.

He killed the kids because that kid called him Master Skywalker. He came to save them originally, but that was just too much for him to handle and he let loose.

Wasn't he being mind controlled the moment Sidious killed Windu? As distrustful as he was against the Jedi, being crowned a Sith Lord should have set off some major red flags. Jedi = bad doesn't mean Sith = good.

I don't think there's any indication of mind control. He even immediately says "What have I done?" when Mace dies.

Perhaps some brain washing but everything just seems to progress too quick for that. Honestly at that point I think it would have made more sense for Anakin to just flee. Which really is probably how the second movie should have ended. The time between Palpatine declaring that the Jedi tried to assassinate him and Anakin falling with the Jedi purge really deserved to have more time to tell a good and coherent story.
