Multiple people were injured Thursday in a shooting inside the Kroger on Byhalia and Poplar Avenue in Collierville, a Memphis suburb, after an active shooter incident.

Collierville Police Chief Dale Lane confirmed 13 people were shot, and one person killed. The suspected shooter also is dead, possibly from a self-inflicted gunshot, Lane said.

Multiple witnesses report hearing at least a dozen shots. Some customers made it out of the store. Employees had others take shelter in the cooler, witnesses said.

Collierville Police Department reported an off-campus active shooter situation. Collierville High School was sheltering in place.

Multiple ambulances have been seen entering Regional One Hospital, the regional trauma center.

The suspects vehicle is still parked and is being investigated.

Lane said officers entered the store just after 1:30 and found multiple people shot, and employees in hiding. He could not comment on whether the shooter was an employee, saying it was under investigation.

Lane called it the most horrific event thats occurred in Collierville history.

My friend's an EMT in the area so I found out about this right as soon as they heard the news, with the numbers updated shortly afterwards. :'( It's a tragedy to lose so many for nothing.

Don't really have them here in Eastern North Carolina.

But when I lived in Tennessee I use to get that cheese bread the deli made.

I could live off that all by itself.

You ever catch yourself out and about and going through a scenario of what you would do if something randomly popped off? I wonder of that has any effect on your actual chances of survival.

It's all good. I'll probably put my plan into action, throw a few old people to the ground while running and then end up in prison because nothing was actually happening and I was just paranoid. Sometimes, you just can't win. All my plans involve sacrificing old people. They already got their chance at life.
