IIRC, the trolling there was worse than anything on Gamefaqs, especially in terms of political discussions. One case I remember was a guy hating a particular movie so much he spammed on that board nonstop for four plus years, until the forums were shut down.

I got into a hissy fit with some moron who thought a $5000 independent film from the 70s should have starred Sidney Poitier because he was black, and the movie was about black people. I didn't realize how fucking stupid he was until long after the boards were, quite rightly, removed, because it didn't occur to me that Sidney Poitier was the only black actor from that period that he knew the name of.

oh gosh yes but that was sooo long ago, maybe 15,16 years :O I used to post stupid topics with my friend and we'd be laughing so hard at the crap we wrote!

we mainly posted on Sandbox, I think it was called that as there was another similar social board Soapbox? Oh and that game one too and some other I won't mention as we were pretty deviant there about certain actors >_>

Yeah, I posted on there regularly. Especially on the American Psycho board, shit was so good, just a constant barrage of memes, discussing business cards, talking about Phil Collins' music, having to return some videotapes... Shame they were shut down.

I would occasionally lurk, but it was one of the most toxic and pessimistic forums I've ever been to in my life. Literally worse than the game forums on this site

I also remember when Nintendo.com had forums. There was actually a short controversy right before OoT came out when people found out you automatically jump at the end of platforms instead of manually doing it. People flooded the board with complaining and boycotts over that.

There was also stuff after screenshots revealing Link had an earring, which was....a whole other can of worms. There's a lot of rose-colored glasses when talking about old internet
