Hopefully it's not bad if you do have it.

Yeah but I have all the symptoms I had last time. It just feels more mild. More annoying than anything.

No, you think you have COVID.

Anyway, hope you get better TC. Hopefully it's something lesser.

The entire coronavirus family of viruses, covid-19 included, escapes immunity after 6-8 months. This has been demonstrably shown.

If someone unvaccinated gets covid a year ago and now there is a flip of a coin whether illness is better or worse.

Interesting. I'm MS2. How is med school for you? It is much easier than nursing school for me so far because it is less rapid paced and I find patho much easier than stupid nursing theory

Anyways, you are correct. It isn't a binary thing though. You still maintain antibodies. Regarldess, covid hasnt really been around long very long and not many people have gotten it twice yet.

And you really think it is reasonable to assume it is likely he has COVID, despite the fact that

  1. He has already gotten it
  2. It is the beginning of flu season
  3. He probably (given the fact that he has gotten covid already and understands how much it sucks) has gotten the vaccine.

I guess the positive test from last June and the positive test from August were fake news, eh?

Incidentally there has been zero reported cases of flu in my region. Nor were there any Flu A/B last year at all, zero cases so far in 2020. If you had a better knowledge of immunology you'd understand why. Or biostatistics? Taken that yet? Pretest probability?

Nausea, runny nose, cough, sore throat, body aches, diarrhea. Body aches is what gave it away last time because my body was sore for seemingly no reason. Maybe TMI but the diarrhea is whats making me think it this time.

I never poop at work and I was at the point I felt like I was about to shit my pants.

So you're using that as your excuse to say the pretest probability of someone with a fever and cough in a state that hasn't recorded a single flu case in over a year is to call it flu?

Maybe I do have the flu but youre also being a dick acting like I attacked you personally. I havent gotten the flu in years so I cant even remember that but I did test positive for COVID and this feels similar.

Maybe Im wrong but also no need to get all butthurt about it. You shouldnt be in med school if you instantly write off peoples opinions on how they feel.

diagnosis
noun
the identification of the nature of an illness or other problem by examination of the symptoms.

you should google 'differential diagnosis"

Differential diagnosis is a process wherein a doctor differentiates between two or more conditions that could be behind a person's symptoms. When making a diagnosis, a doctor may have a single theory as to the cause of a person's symptoms. They may then order tests to confirm their suspected diagnosis.

So again... You would bet $1000 that it's the flu before you even knew his symptoms
