This is going to be fun...

...But why today? Because it's the 1st? Would have made much more sense to end it next Monday.

You'd figure that businesses would realize that you save money on rent, office supplies, any potential amenities, etc. if your employees all work from home

Probably a sunk cost fallacy to it because they are already paying for those things they just aren't being used currently

So what exactly were you doing with your post there? You believe name calling without actually backing up anything you said is a decent argument?

Hmm.

Same. They'd bring it up from time to time that they are still discussing what to do in the future but then eventually made it permanent and even opened up some of the job positions nationally as fully remote.

Truth is, these bigass companies hate seeing their 69th floor multi-million dollar skyscraper office space with a 20 year lease go unused so they're forcing everyone back instead of acknowledging how stupid it is to waste so much on overhead.

Nobody denies that an office is a necessity for certain departments, but by no means is it a requirement for everyone. Smart companies have been using this opportunity to scale back unnecessary space.

I guess every place is different. if I had a job where I wasn't working with just physical files perhaps I would continue to work from home.

but I got sick of taking multiple archive boxes full of files home every day.

plus it was never really "work from home", so to speak. you still had to go into the office daily to pick up your mail and work assignments (the boxes).

so I say thank god I'm back on the office.

Surprised you couldn't have set up a little space for yourself to just work at the office since it was probably mostly empty

It's mainly mid-level managers and old people that feel you need to have "work-place camaraderie" and that real work requires a real office that are pushing for a return to the old ways.

The smart managers have actually used this as an opportunity to see if an office is necessary or not, and the advantages of work-from-home, and that's why they're the ones doing hybrid or straight-up permanent work-from-home.

My job gave us the option to do whatever we want in this regard. We have a mask mandate in the office, though, so I'm just gonna stay home. I'll still need to go into the office sometimes and will have no problems wearing a mask, though.

This may sound racist and I'm going to try my best, but B2B/enterprise sales isn't a job that people will outsource to a country with thick accents and/or broken english. Try executing a seven figure deal with a six month sales cycle from call to close in full fluent english, that's hard enough without a language barrier. Or cold calling a prospect whose first impression of the sales guy will be a hard to understand sales pitch.

People already insta-block numbers they don't recognize, it'd be pretty foolish to think adding a hard-to-understand sales rep to that formula will yield results.
