21 y/o Alex Binyam Abraha from Georgia was killed by a dog while breaking and entering

The homeowner, who is not named discovered the body on his front porch at 10:30am on Sept 24 and police said Abraha successfully entered the 2 bedroom house in a rural area of Newnan the night before and was greeted by 2 large pitbulls outside..

They initially called in homicide thinking it was a murder until a medical examiner discovered he died from injuries of a dog attack where bite marks went all the way down to his bone in some places

The homeowners say they do not know who he was or how he got in as both dogs were seized by the dept of corrections and as of today it is not known what will happen to the pitbulls

Pictures of both dogs were tweeted by a journalist from Fox affiliate WAGA-TV

They said they were notified "days" after his death and received conflicting information on what happened

Abraha also had several warrants out for his arrest but it is not known for what reason

I'm not really sure. I'm not generally ok with letting dogs kill people, but I'm also not ok with breaking and entering. I'd need to know how aggressive the guy was before making that kind of judgement.

I can't imagine a situation where the dogs aren't destroyed for this

Im not buying they should die. Protecting property. Some people get dogs and train them for this exact situation.

Nothing should happen to the dogs. If someone breaks into the property of course they're going to attack. It's not like they went out and chased after a passing jogger

So, AFAIK there is a law in place where if there is potential danger that the owner in a residence knows about... it must be indicated that it exists. I think in some places you don't even have to have a notice for a person(s) entering to know they are not going to die/be injured. But I do know for guard dogs a sign must be present in a visible and easy to see location(s). So if that exists I don't think there's much issue. But if it doesn't I can see the dogs being put down in a legal sense.

leave the dogs alone,he shouldnt have been breaking in peoples housesi have no sympathy for people who commit crimes on that level.and,you just never know whats waiting for you when you do break into someones home

I don't understand why anyone would block him, seeing as he's one of my primary news sources and his topics are sometimes unintentionally (or intentionally) hilarious.

Anyway, like I said in FT's topic, the dogs should not be put down. Any dog is going to take a bite out of an intruder. These dogs are of no danger to society. Having a guard dog is not illegal so why are people suddenly acting like it is?

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. You never know why someone is breaking into your home. Could be a thief, serial killer, rapist, or kidnapper. Guard dogs are meant to guard a home and make intruders sorry. Although I don't think I've ever heard of one killing somebody irl. No they shouldn't be taken away. I think as long as the owner had a guard dog sign, the animals should be alright.
