Despite the first venom being slaughtered by critics and the sequel doing better in critical ratings though still a mediocre 60% RT and Metacritic at 47%, it did what most movies can't by exceeding the original's opening gross which people didn't see coming.

Sony obviously has a winner on its hands with the movie and made a good decision by pushing the film to the opening of October but they expected only a 40 million opening considering sequels tend to gross less than it's predecessor. The first Venom grossed 80M so it is a big improvement and even surpassed Black Widow in it's opening weekend with 90.1M

Audiences came out in droves and based on exit polling loved the sequel despite it's short running time and after the post credit scenes, fans are anticipating where this movie is going to go.

I went to see Shang Chi yesterday and I heard one of the employees telling someone that the next Venom showtime was sold out. So not that surprised that it did well. There were a lot of people out this weekend.

It's got Carnage, which is awesome (is this the first movie with carnage? I know he was in the cartoons). I want to see it, but I'm not trying to sit in a packed theater, so I'll wait lol.
