You would get gas, but it could be bet the r that wait. Or to get less until you have more money. So, checking gas prices is good. Especially before you need gas so you know where the cheapest is. Paying attention to the price is key

Any difference in prices is so miniscule that you're actively wasting your own time and/or harming the environment to go out of your way to save a few cents per gallon on gas

In Ontario, gas prices were variable enough that I could actually save a dollar or two by waiting a couple days (or waiting until later in the day, in many cases), so I got into the habit of starting to look for good prices whenever I was below half a tank. If one showed up that wasn't out of my way, I'd gas up there. If I dipped below 1/8 tank, though, I'd just gas up at the cheapest currently available option (I'd pass 5-6 different stations on many regular trips, so I'd check the prices on the way out and gas up on the way home). I'd rarely save that much (5 cents/litre is a pretty big difference, and that's just $3 for a 60L fillup), but it took virtually no additional time or effort, so I'd say it was worthwhile.

Back in NS, gas prices only change once a week, generally speaking, and every station in a pretty large area has the same price. I'll occasionally defer filling up by a day or two if the price is relatively high and I expect a change soon (or, conversely, fill up earlier when it's relatively low), but otherwise there isn't much point in paying attention and I don't bother.

Gas prices around here vary by more than a dollar between the highest and lowest. Definitely more than a few cents. I save a fair bit by making sure to refuel when I'm near the cheaper stations and avoid being forced to refuel at the expensive ones by running my car until it's empty. No going out of my way with just the slightest bit of planning and forethought.

I never said to go out of his way Most people pass multiple gas stations on the way to work and home and stuff using the cheapest one makes sense. Which is why I said to pay attention to prices. You pay attention as they go by, so they know when it times to get gas And while its can be a small amount, it could be more, or add up. Or be just enough to last until the next payday

I mean, if the gas station on the right is $2.99 per gallon, and the one on the left is $2.89 per gallon, you can bet I am going to make a left hand turn to get gas. Sure, I am only saving a dollar (10 gallon gas tank), but it is still cheaper.
