What if it was a young (25/30) year old clone of Palpatine instead?

Some how, Palpatine returned.. as a clone of his old man self. But lets say the clone we saw in RoS was a 25ish version of Palpatine. Would that have been better? Still a weak clone body that needed Reys force but just a younger Palpatine.

Im of the opinion he shouldve returned in the first place but I honestly think this would be better than what we got.

Its still old Palpatines soul in this younger body mind you. Just like it was in RoS but in a younger body.

It's not necessarily canon, but in the novelization, Kylo speculates that the clone body couldn't really hold all Sheev's dark side power, hence the deterioration and rot.

or, the Palpatine from Return of the Jedi was actually a clone. In all honestly, thats the answer that makes the most sense.

Also, say what you will about TROS, but I absolutely loved him being all decrepit and creepy. Seemed like a perfect final stage for the character.

iirc, Rey's dad was Palatine's clone, so I guess the old version was just for imagery

He was a non-identical clone, and had no connection to the Force, so he was a failure in that way. And even if he had been successful it's still possible Sheev's essence would've deteriorated the body

Whats even better is that JJ & co brought the wreckage of the Death Star into the picture.... honestly. It clearly got disintegrated when it blew it up.

It didn't, it blew up into a million pieces. The issue is inertia would cause the pieces to fly everywhere almost forever. There's no way anyone could possibly collect them.

Sequel trilogy should have wrapped up all loose ends and unanswered questions from the OT and PT.

Padme and Anakin's descendants. Check.
Luke's Jedi order. Check.
Leia's new republic. Check.
Remnants of the Empire. Check.
The ability to stop people from dying. Check.
Prophecy of the Chosen One origins. Not check.

Disney touched on them but many agree it was executed more poorly than the PT.

I've been playing with ideas for a ST rewrite. First movie [ep7] is smaller in scale and involves the Skywalker family. Features characters like Jaina Fel, Ben Skywalker, and Allana Solo. Galaxy has been at peace for some time. We get to see the entire family happy together, but then conflict starts. Villains appear that may have ties to the past. Jaina dies at the end.

Next sequel [ep8] is faster and more intense. It's confirmed that not only the Skywalker clan is targetted, but the villains pose a threat to the entire galaxy. A villain revelation confiming a connection with the Empire, the Sith, and possibly Darth Vader himself. Luke and Leia get their big battle. Showing audiences the full potential of the twin Skywalkers. Unfortunately, they both die in this film, setting the stage for the new big three main characters to fend for themselves in the final chapter.

Episode 9. Haven't thought much detail about this film yet. Despite a lot of the plot seemingly revolving around the destruction of skywalkers, I didnt want Ben Skywalker to be part of the big three or even Allana. They had their chance in the EU. There would be other protagonists in the previous st films that get more and more developed until they are undoubtedly the main characters by the end.
