Felt like they were trying to do too much for just a movie. And none of it really climaxed in a satisfying way(or at all). Probably would have made a much better miniseries with more screen time to pace out the story.

Apparently David Chase just wanted to make a movie about the Newark riots but couldnt get it done without involving The Sopranos. Which is weird youd think hed have more clout than that. But yeah, thats apparently why the movie is disjointed.

I still very much enjoyed it despite its issues. Made me burst out laughing several times and I liked all the acting and fan service.

e: and yeah youre right everything people disliked about the movie could probably have been solved by making it a miniseries instead.

He was a tad bit too much, but I think most are way too hard on him and forget that Silvio was basically like a cartoon character in general. Some people in real life are over the top. My issues with Silvio are the age inconsistencies. He was said to be a part of young Tony's young crew and was in on the Feech La Manna card game robbery. It makes no sense that he's older and already established here.

Yeah, I heard something along these lines. I thought a movie about the Newark riots from the perspective of the Sopranos would be pretty good. But it really just ended up being a pretty minor footnote to the first half of the movie. Pretty disappointing tbh. Like I said, they tried to cram too much into just 2 hours.

yeah that too. But it was done in a way where it was like the audience needs to know its Sil so hell be exactly the same 20+ years ago. It would be like if young Artie was bald and wearing a chef outfit.

Haven't gotten into the Soprano show, but I enjoyed the movie.

That being said, the trailer and advertisement are very misleading. The trailer makes it look like Tony is the focus of the movie, but he's not. It's his uncle. While some static advertisement like the movie poster said, "get to meet the one who inspired Tony" or something like that.
