Should Senators Sinema and Manchin join the Republican Party?

They've been treated very badly by the Democrats. Is it time to make a switch?

Nobody should join the Republican party. The requirement to have your lips surgically attached to Donald Trump's ass is something nobody should agree to.

Okay, that makes me feel bad for Donald Trump. How does he live?

Why should they flip? They think the spending bill is fiscally irresponsible. That doesn't mean they agree with the Republicans on anything else.

The solution to alleged mistreatment at the hands of fellow Democrats is not to join the Republicans. Not in 2021. A decade ago, certainly. But the Republican party is pretty much a circle of hell at this stage.

Sinema's stance seems rational enough to me, though I admit I haven't been following closely. Maybe someone can help me.

A bipartisan infrastructure bill has passed the Senate. House progressives won't pass it until there is a vote on the Build Back Better bill. Sinema and Manchin want to pass the infrastructure bill and then negotiate the BBB bill separately. I don't understand the controversy there. They are two different bills. Am I missing something?

Sinema and Manchin are acting very normally in a pre-2010s way. The left are copying Mitch McConnell's tactics of insisting on tying legislation that lacks support of a majority in Congress to "must-pass" legislation that commands almost universal support.

I mean they could flip but if they keep voting the same way they will just be kicked out of the Republican party and treated horribly a la McCain.
