That's not so different from my ranking tbh.

5 > 8 > 3 > 6 > 1 > 7 > 4 > 9 > 2

Though my take is also that Star Wars is pretty mediocre for the most part, so make of that what you will. 5 and 8 are the only movies I'd really say are good. 3 tried to be more than a cheap popcorn flick which is more credit than I'll give the movies ranked lower, but it stumbles quite a bit in the process. 6/1/7 are pretty thoroughly "fine". 4 is definitely not good but is at least not actively bad.

i think the issue with the sequel trilogy in general is that it constantly escalates the stakes to the point where they seem completely arbitrary, as opposed to being anything with emotional weight. even return of the jedi started approaching this point; the ST really just jumped way off the deep end. like we have a multi-planet holocaust to open the ST, which just kind of obliterates my ability to care much about what happens.

that said, i enjoyed the throwbacks in 7 and some of the spectacle of 8 still. it's 9 where everything just imploded, other than palpatine's hammy acting

also yeah i really really like revenge of the sith on rewatch. the memes legitimately made it better for my viewing experience. the shine also came hard off of return of the jedi on my last watch.

Return of the Jedi best Star Wars movie

I watched the prequels for the first time in like 15 years with my wife because she had never seen them and I liked them all less, which surprised me because I didn't think it would be possible!

I had ROTJ > ESB for the longest time but flipped it back for that one obviously. They're really, really close in any event but I figured using = would be seen as cowardly.

6 and 5 could be equals. Same with 3 and 7. But I don't want to be a coward either. I feel like I've only seen 3 once, but I own it, so I've probably seen it twice? I dunno. I've seen all the other mainline ones at least twice. It took a lot of viewings to realize the true terror of 1, since it does have a decent amount of enjoyable content (all of them do).

Something like that. Throne room scene is the best in the series and RotS only makes it better. RotS has issues for sure, but I'll defend it ans I'm not gonna defend anything on the other side of the middle.

yeah, when i first saw ROTS i was mad that it made vader a worse character

but since the PT just looks and feels completely different from the OT and some of the shine came off return of the jedi anyway, i just got over it

Whew, finished all the Back to Origins worlds in Rayman Legends. I don't know if that was all the worlds from the original game or what, but man, I was tired of all those bird levels by the end of it!

Ah, I see. This last world is all music levels, and most of them are "8-bit" remixes of the ones I've already done. Looks like I need to have rescued all 700 Teensies to unlock the last thing, which isn't going to happen. I'm probably going to finish 65 short, based on my estimation, which normally wouldn't be too bad, but a lot of getting them all would be getting under 40 seconds in every speed run level, which I have zero motivation to do.

okay yeah I've done a couple of these "8-bit" levels and I think I'm done with this game, they are not fun

But overall, my experience with Rayman Legends was very positive! I don't know if I'd call it an all-time great, but it's pretty fun. I enjoyed their attempts at momentum-based platforming. Haven't really played a platformer outside of DKC that has attempted to do it as more than a gimmick. I don't think it's as good at it as DKC, but it did give me a sense of nostalgia from playing it.

Nah, he loves both but he's always leaned ESB. My biggest surprise is that I didn't think he was quite that down on Solo! I thought he liked it more than I did (and I don't care for it), but maybe not!

Started Metroid Dread; just beat Kraid. Pretty fun so far!

I was worried about disliking the E.M.M.I. sections, but thankfully you lose very little progress for being caught so they're actually fine. My biggest complaint so far is probably that each tile that gets filled in on your map is ridiculously small, so if like me you have a compulsive need to have a perfect map filling it in seems pretty obnoxious.

I have begun Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. Played through the opening sequence. It's cool how the controller responds to pretty much everything. As usual, the graphical presentation is beautiful. I think I'm going to enjoy this Rift Tether gimmick. It seems useful and something they can do a lot of different things with.

Also, Nefarious is still the best.

I completed the first anomaly puzzle as Clank, and it was pretty fun. It'll be tough to top the time puzzles from A Crack in Time, but I've always enjoyed the playable Clank sections throughout the series.

Well, I was driving in the passenger seat since I was delivering mail for work, and the emergency break is a pedal on the left side of the driver's seat, so I couldn't reach it. I guess I could've found a way to hit it if I'd absolutely needed to do it.

Played some more Rift Apart. The gameplay is as crisp as ever, and I'm really enjoying several of the new weapons. A lot of R&C games end with me just sticking with 2-3 weapons most of the way, but this game seems to have several viable weapons that are fun to use.
