Like the very last day of class, about 2/3 of the school would just skip and the other 1/3 would literally just wander the school all day and do whatever cuz the teachers didn't give a fuck about attendance on the last day.

Every year, there would always be a classroom where someone hooked up an OG Xbox or N64 to a projector and people would come in and play Halo 1 or 2, Conker, or Goldeneye >_> Outside, people would just play a pick up game of football on the field or a basketball game in the inside court. Shit was so cash

Damn, that sucks. We had exams but after that, it was a few days afterwards to get our grades and such. I guess in hindsight it was kinda pointless but it was a good experience >_>

This lol.

I dont think many HS students do, if they even bother show up. Teachers tend to be on board as well.

Shit, it's like the last 2 weeks at your job lol. What your boss going to do, fire you?

This.

However, on the last day of my Sophomore year, it was just me and 2 other people, and our teacher played a homemade Marvel fan animation that he voiced and animated with his wife. It wasn't great quality wise, but cute and endearing nonetheless.

What made it funny was throughout the semester he was a pretty serious guy and I would have never have expected him to make stuff like that in his free time lol

Yeah it was crazy. Lots of people didn't know if they were going to pass a class or even graduate until school was technically out. Clearly a lot had gone wrong in someone's academic career if it came to that point but it always seemed kinda cruel to have students waiting until the last minute to find out if everything was going to work out. I remember kids sitting in their cars crying after the last day had let out because they found out they weren't going to graduate on time.

Pretty much this.

The last 5-7 days of school was basically us going in just for the 2 hour block of time we needed to be there to take whatever final exam was that day.

Because classes were technically "over" the only students that really stuck around for the whole day were the underclassmen that lived too far away to walk home, or didn't know anyone that could drive them home.

Now, elementary and junior high? That's where we had a legit "last day of school" and yes, they were mostly spent playing games and just general dicking around.

One year I do remember bringing in my Sega Genesis and hooking it up to a TV, where we proceeded to have a class-wide NBA Jam Tournament. It was the perfect amount, because there were only 16 kids in my class that day.

We watched movies and slept or just hung out where the PE field was playing football, baseball, or whatever.

Gym teachers were just watching and no one got hurt but the gym teachers did make sure everyone stayed hydrated and took breaks.

We had other games set up on the side, no one really cared that last 2 weeks including staff.

It was often more like 80-90% of the school that skipped because that last day was pointless.

On the last week we'd set up our consoles and play Melee, Mario Kart, DBZ Budokai 3 or whatever.

Heck, on my last year of HS I had one or two dead hours on Friday so I set up my SNES and played with my friends.

Pretty much the last week we didn't do anything serious, mostly watched movies or did arts and crafts just to burn the time. Senior year it was like the last two weeks were just trading year books to sign and talking about going to college etc.

Yeah seniors we'd have exams for 3 periods for 3 days and go home once you finished your third one for the day so at around 11 AM. If you didn't have a ride/take the early buses/feel like walking home you'd just fuck around until the day was over and leave at the normal time with the underclassmen. Most seniors who stayed would hang in the cafeteria, gym, library, auditorium (they'd have movies playing), or walk around the halls. The video game club and anime club would find an empty room and hooked up a console they brought from home and played Smash. I remember my friends and I just hanging in the art room and helping out, like student-teacher assistants and all that. Damn this is a trip down memory lane.

My senior year we had so many snow days due to a blizzard that the administration was ordered to have us come back to school for an extra two days after graduation. Any students skipping school would be denied their diploma or something.

The school ended up having the few of us that didn't have a "sick" excuse go on a field trip for the first day and the second day we had a huge cookout where everyone came to get their diploma and free food. Very smart thinking on our teachers part for that one.

As a teacher, I always have the last days of school dedicated to convo classes. How the underclass students feel about the next school year, any plans for their break, etc.. For the graduating class, we always talk about their future plans and concerns and give advice/insight to stuff.

Seniors at my high school didn't have to take final exams. Unless you weren't happy with the grade you had and wanted to try to raise it. So we pretty much had the last week off until graduation rehearsal Thursday and graduation Friday.

I remember I got out a bit early my junior year as well. The last day of finals I went to take my Spanish final, my second final of the day. All I had after that was lunch then gym, which was just 2 hours to play around. Since I had an A+ grade in Spanish the teacher asked if I had any other finals. When I said no he told me to just go home.

More like the last week, and not just high school. Finals were always over already so there was nothing to do but screw around. Teachers were OK with it too.
