I went from Cataris to Dairon. Locked a hatch behind me in Cataris but I can't open it. Meanwhile in Dairon I can't advance at all. There are these orange blocks with boomerang shapes and can't destroy them. I've triple checked the map and I'm literally stuck with nothing I can do.

Haven't played dread yet, but those boomerang blocks usually mean you need the sprint upgrade to charge through them.

I would recommend morph ball bombing any area on the ground that looks suspicious. There's probably a tunnel that you just haven't found yet.

This is common in Metroid games, just keep working at it.

That's the thing. I don't have a sprint upgrade and I don't have the morph ball. I want to go back since I can't do anything here but with that locked hatch I can't go back.

...Okay, fuck this game. It was a block on the floor. I knew I was gonna hate these hidden blocks, they should never have been necessary to move on and instead should only have been for secrets.

I won't say your complaint is invalid, but they've been doing this in pretty much every game since the beginning, so if this is your first Metroid I would maybe recommend not trying other games in the series because they all have roadblocks like this.

Then maybe that's something that is bad and should change. For secrets, fine, I did that all the time. For necessary advancement, no.

That can be frustrating yeah. Its valid. What you dont know tho is once you memorize the general location of all the blocks you need to destroy, this becomes very fun on subsequent playthroughs as you test your memory, basically, and know generally where to look theres some blocks i check every time, but really I know theres nothing there. Thats just the gameplay loop.

Emphasis on can ..... can be frustrating

its also a heluva lotta fun



New Metroid games: either get a guide, or be prepared to use google, essentially. For your first run, it can be done alone, but its not easy
