You can clear snipers out of towers at the perimeter of a base and they will respawn as soon as the tower is out of range of your minimap (which is like... 50 yards lol). And I just had an "enemy spotting you!" icon pop up out of nowhere and a helicopter had materialized in the air.

Ridiculous :|

Wtf!?

I heard it was bad but I'm replaying FC4 right now at even it doesn't do that. Are they scaling down the range of saved environment for XBO and PS4 or something?

Or maybe just bugs that need tweaked? That would really piss me off because I do use stealth a lot.

I am hoping it is a bug that they fix, because it is annoying. Even if you're not trying to stealth it sucks dealing with enemies that you already dealt with for no reason. I don't mind the concept of reinforcements arriving in vehicles, but I had the fact that I've had enemies just spawn right by me as I'm moving around from positions that I've already cleared.

There are some other stupid aspects to it, like the best ammunition for straightforward damage seems to objectively be AP Bullets, and there doesn't seem to be a need to slot anything else (especially not the soft body ammo) unless you want to use the flammable or explosive ammo for the hell of it.

Also the AI is s t u p i d. I've stealthed several portions now just because the enemy is too slow to "recognize" me. It very much feels like a mid-2000s game where the enemies just see a dead body, investigate, you drop them, sometimes they start to see you but you drop them anyway, then more enemies come and you drop all of them, without them ever having a chance to even fire at you.

Besides this fact, stealth isn't as satisfying to me because there's no reward for it most of the time. So the outposts have individual challenges to complete apparently (I've only done two). The first one did require a stealthy approach (read: just don't have them set off the alarm) for bonus materials, but the second one I just ran around guns blazing and got the bonus because I just had to hack a computer.

Classic character progression is entirely gone, you don't get experience points for kills or stealthing things. Your experience points from destroying billboards and doing side missions and capturing outposts does let you rank up, and at higher ranks you do more damage and can buy better equipment. So no more unlocking skills and fancy new tricks.

Does have an impressive arsenal so far and I'm actually using shotguns which I almost never do, but ... eh.

Is it maybe an enemy you missed?
I was watching my son play the other day while he was raiding a fort and there was 1 red spot on the map he couldn't find. He searched everywhere for it and couldn't find the enemy anywhere.

Nope, I had to destroy planes on an airfield and I made sure to clear the sniper posts. But the last one was at the end of the airfield and when I returned to destroy the first plane the first sniper I had killed had returned.

Playing on PC too. Oh and boats have randomly spawned in the water and started shooting me. Like they materialize in a la Star Trek

idk, I really, really loved Wildlands and enjoyed Far Cry 5.

The turning point for me was The Division 2. The story in that game was a total shit show and the endgame content at launch was abysmal for an MMO. I think they did eventually sort it out but not before I lost interest.

Then came Breakpoint and that was a total fucking nightmare compared to Wildlands. So many terrible decisions tossed together into one product. And it didn't help that the story didn't even have a conclusion to it.

Everything after that... just... ugh. I did actually kind of enjoy AC Valhalla, actually a lot more than Odyssey.

But I've lost a lot of confidence in their ability to make other games. Watch Dogs Legion was a huge disappointment. And now Far Cry 6 is just more mundane stuff. It's not even "the formula" of Far Cry, they just got rid of a lot of features that made previous games more engaging (like character progression), added an awkward gear system, adopted some terrible rank mechanic that means that enemies might not go down with one headshot any more, and then it has stuff like enemies phasing in...

Aircraft are weird as shit to fly, I need to change the controls but the descriptions in the menu make it sound like if I change "throttle" it's going to change my "ascend" button for some reason. Helicopters are like RC devices except when you try to nose up or down to aim it's all choppy and weird, like it's going down a set of stairs.

It still doesn't have 100% co-op, which is just depressing since Ghost Recon Wildlands did it perfectly. There are even reports that if you do things in co-op mode that shouldn't be saved to your game... they *do* get saved to your game, preventing you from actually completing them in your game.

I like some of their ideas for things like their "dungeons" (the Special Operations). Maybe at higher difficulties it's more worthwhile but for now it doesn't feel different enough to really call it out as a defining feature of the game.

I would lie if I said I didn't enjoy it, but it is probably the worst Far Cry I've played (note - I didn't touch New Dawn or Primal).

Yeah I'd definitely wait for a sale. Also by then they'll probably have more of that unique instanced content you can solo or do as a group.

That's sound excessive. And I liked the spawns in FC5 making people almost always on your case. But to just have areas you cleared respawn that fast sucks. You might realize you forgot something. It's fine when they're constantly pulling up in cars, cause that makes more sense and keeps the action going in a less annoying way to me

Well, until you end up getting stuck at a crossroad for thirty minutes because the respawns are perfectly staggered and you're getting a new truck every forty seconds.

Hundreds of corpses later, you don't even remember why you're trying to steal that gas truck in the first place.

Yeah, I didn't mind it so much in 5 when there was a logical explanation ("they arrived in vehicles!"). Or even in Ghost Recon Wildlands when I would get pigeonholed in a guard tower for half an hour trying to wait for a break in all the reinforcements to escape.

But when it's Cyberpunk style things popping up out of nowhere... ugh.

Oh yeah this is another stupid design point. There are restricted areas that have special unique loot in them but they're not designated as anything so you can't just clear them. They just persist and exist... It is weird since they *do* have road checkpoints that are clearable/controllable things, so why didn't they just extend those to some of these other territories?

I have seen that at least one of these territories was used in a story mission so I can understand that, but then it should be something you're able to take over/clear after you complete that mission (idk maybe I have to go back there again later and then this does happen).

Oh wait I lied you can climb out of the water but only at specially marked ledges.

Also the flight controls in the plane keeps seeming to invert on me? Or it feels that way. It seems like if you try to use W/S to pitch up/down and also use the mouse to pitch up/down at the same time it does something funky. Or maybe it's just my brain trying to figure out why they made the controls as wonky as this lmao.

There's a flashlight, but no way to manually control the flashlight. I'm in a cave and can't see shit but I've gone into brighter buildings and the flashlight comes out. Half-Life 1 had a manual flashlight.

The writing is weird. There have been two or three times now where it felt like there was at least one mission missing.

For example (spoilers for the "first" territory you unlock after the tutorial, Madrugada):

You help Espada locate then communicate with the scientist. You also help Papa destroy the chemical agent and rescue a person. And then you help Philly retrieve a military truck with explosives.

And then from there you go in to... rescuing a group of rebels that were taken captive? There was no explanation for *how* or *when*. And maybe that truck I stole will come into play after this, but it just *feels* like it should have been connected to how these rebels were captured, like, we were going to blow up a facility and the operation went bad or something.

And this mission required me to "sneak to the top of the tower without getting spotted", so I tried to parachute in, but when I got on to the roof this sniper saw me... and the game let me continue lmao, just had to wait a few seconds. Talk about low stakes.

Oh yeah that happened to me, too lmao. Was trying to fight to get some stupid crate and I eventually lost the fight and not only did it respawn with no enemies but the crate was also somehow in an easier location.

I just found an airstrip that had some weird vehicle on it, maybe a gyrocopter or something? But I went to get a crate first and when I came back the vehicle was gone :(

I also found a crate that is in a narrow restricted area that *matches* the profile of a checkpoint, except there's no checkpoint there. And the chest is behind a locked door that requires the key to... a checkpoint...

lmao apparently it goes both ways - just scouted an airfield, saw the standard three soldiers, wingsuited down closer and ... they had despawned.

Also just did a little cave exploration mission, really felt like it was trying to be a Tomb Raider-style ordeal except it was a series of ziplines and I couldn't even appreciate what the hell was going on. At one point thought I had somehow screwed up and dropped down too early or something.

Enemies are a rank or two below me yet if I'm not hitting them in the head I'm doing very little damage (guess that's what soft body bullets are for but... stupid mechanic, really, they are taking like 2% damage per hit with AP rounds).

I keep picking up pieces of equipment that I thought I owned already. I can't tell if that means the equipment is getting upgraded to offer better protection or what. And a lot of the equipment is totally useless. Got a pair of boots that disables tripwires when you step on them lmao like when would I ever use that.

OK I have to refine my original assessment of how bases work.

For all bases, not having the alarm go off gives you bonus resources. It's just kind of an unwritten rule, because you just... don't get this bonus if an alarm does go off (but the game doesn't outright tell you you failed it).

Then each type of base has its own type of secondary objective you can "complete" for additional resources, too. I say "complete" because sometimes it's just making sure a truck in the base doesn't blow up. The other two types I've seen are - interact with a computer and let a timer run down to hack it, and open up valves on fuel tanks and let a timer run down.

There's also a fair amount of content "hidden" at liberated outposts and checkpoints - there's at least one guerilla at each who doesn't have any marker, but they will call you by saying "hey, over here!" and then show you where other checkpoints or even quests are that you might not otherwise discover.

It's not respawning enemies like you drive up and clear it out then screw around for a few hours. It's spawning/despawning like the game doesn't remember what you did five seconds ago/where you are supposed to be. Doesn't apply to the locations you can actually take over, either. But there are a lot of trespassing zones on the map that I don't think will ever go away seeing how the game has progressed so far.

It's a little offputting since everything else is marked with an exclamation mark on the map, from brochures for fishing spots to corrupt officers whom you can bribe for locations of unique weapons.

I want to say these guerillas did have that ! at some point, but now I can't remember.

If it's the one I'm thinking of, don't worry about the key. Just blow the door open with a grenade (then wait a little bit for the flames to die out before you go in).

The guerilla's at the checkpoints/outposts/etc. all have little ! markers for me, don't know if that's a bug if they're missing a marker in your game (probably).

The other issue I've seen related to the topic is going to AA sites or other restricted areas which have absolutely no guards whatsoever, like the game forgot to spawn any in.
