I never saw the song as a love song. Maybe I missed the point. Maybe the point missed me. Okay... kind of a lot to unpack now that I watched it all. I didn't hate it... but I wanted to like it a lot fucking more than I actually did. So much of what she said beforehand was relateable and kicked my ass. In fact she even used the word resonate which is one of my favorite words and one I use a lot. But the performance itself... was a letdown. It felt like she was trying too hard to be sultry and kinda... overly Dolly Parton. I enjoyed her in Black Mirror. That might be a fucking hot take and the cover of Nine Inch Nails was stupid but otherwise I did really like that episode and her performance in it. This felt like a joke. It did not have the rawness that the original has. I have no context on this. I'm not sure if I was meant to have my mind blown or to be like "that was fucking dumb..." I wanted the former. One thing i've always noticed about people leaving there is they're always happier on the way out. She was telling me she gets more money, gets more benefits and i'm thinkin "Fuck am I still doing here? She makes less than I do, I could do better too" This last class is broken as fuck and i'm sick of jumping into Zoom meetings after work to fix shit. I have experience and another degree, I should be making way more money than I do now. I want to stay where i'm at for the rest of the year only because of the experience working with this cloud shit, but nothing at work is keeping me there anymore. She was the only cool person to work with really and there's just nothin but tension with the fiancee/gf/ex. Just today someone asked me about us again and I still have a "I dunno" answer. Other than that I spent 8 hours just waiting around.... I wanna just enjoy the rest of this year and then next year look into a whole different direction since my circumstances may have greatly changed over this past month. It's a damn good feeling too. I think I was well overdue for a fresh start.
