Is Statue of Liberty is the most iconic American symbol?

Personally, Id say yes. Just looking at what it took to get her built, the people who built it, the support to get her built.

Sorta. It was built in France.

They dissasembled it and shipped it to New York, took 4 months to reassemble.

So technically, it was "built" by French workers, "rebuilt" by 'Muricans.

80 character limit and you couldnt even finish the word symbol...

Edit: and no. It's our flag that we plaster everywhere and people decided it was necessary to wear as articles of clothing. We aren't supposed to drag it on the ground, but thots shove it up their ass and say its underwear.

Gift from the French, US originally didnt want it because it would be too much to build, French sent it over anyways, big newspaper campaign to send in money to help get her built, tons of money sent in and workers from all over showed up to build her. Its much more interesting then what I just said btw. It goes all the way back to the fur trade between First Nations and the French over beavers(not kidding)

When I think of iconic American symbols, at least as far as monuments, I usually think of Mt. Rushmore first. Then the Washington monument. Then the Lincoln Memorial. Then I would probably put the Statue of Liberty fourth.

Not counting famous homes like the White House or Monticello.

Noone's ignoring anyone.

Like I said, "built by americans" is only a half truth, I was just pointing out a technicality.

Why you gotta discredit Americans contribution by saying Muricans? Cant you just appreciate something that took a contribution form a lot of appreciated people to get her built.

I always say 'Muricans. It's not peyorative or demeaning in any way tbh.

It would be like calling someone from the Phillipines a Pinoy, or someone from Brazil a Brazuca. They do it with us Venezuelans all the time by calling us Venecos.

It's all in good fun, you should relax.

Lets be honest, round these parts Muricans isnt used politely, can we agree on that?

Being an Iroquois, yeah I find it very offensive to be considered just another Murican. Just because something is ok elsewhere doesnt make it ok everywhere.

Liberty and The Littles

Wow! Its the Statue of Liberty!

But why is it all dark? I thought they kept it all lit up at night?

Usually they do, Lucy. But the Bigs thought it was high time they spruce it up! Repairing and Replacing what needed it.

I've been there a bunch of times over the years. Stayed the weekend a few times, too. Not since the late 90s though and it seemed to be in a decline then.

Oddly, this is the one and only place I ever saw Sega's Time Traveler. They had it set up outside their restaurant/cafeteria place. In like the entrance area. That game was a miracle to behold when I first saw it back in the day.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xVYEkMmQOLs

Also worth noting as a kid growing up in the 80s... this place was porn central. I can't even believe my parents took as there as kids. They just had tons of porn shit laying around for kids to look at. Like videos and magazines were in a closed off room, but everything else was just mixed in with the rest of the tourist trap junk. Like the nudie pens, binoculars you'd look through to see a nude woman, little plastic frogs with huge dicks. Like I can't believe no one got in trouble over that shit or went to jail. He's little 11 year old me just walking around a porn shop basically. And no one said anything.
