Do they look like they're living in poverty to you?

36 y/o Veronica Merritt and her husband, 37 y/o Marty from New York are expecting their TWELTH child after she had her First child at 14 as she admitted they DON'T use contraception and want a total of 17 children!!

She announced the news on her instagram by sharing a video of the ultrasound and titled it "Unjust rules must be broken. Or something like that. cheaper by the dozen"

In 1999, she was 14 when she had sex with her bf and had her first child at 9th grade with her oldest daughter, Victoria who is now an ADULT at 21!!

5 years later they welcomed now 16 y/o Andrew and then so on...

However not all her kids are from the first hubby as she divorced him and married her second husband Marty who went on to have 7 more kids with him.

15 y/o Adam, 13 y/o Mara, 12 y/o Dash, 10 y/o Darla, 8 y/o Marvelous, 6 y/o Martalaya, 6 y/o Amela, 4 y/o Delilah, 3 y/o Donovan and one who is yet to be named and on the way..

She said she graduated high school with HONOURS still and attempted college but got sick because of a kidney disease and LOST one so she dropped out. She can't take hormonal birth control because of it.

She has 100,000 followers on tiktok and shares her story about her life including buying a 9 bed room fix-er-upper home for 20,000 and assigning COLOURS to her kids so she remembers their names. Colour coding is how she find out anything about her kids.

She also drives her kids on a SCHOOL BUS they bought for cheap around the city as well as they claim they don't need a big expensive house or "essential" things to live a happy life and raising a family

The former teen mom is strict and has gotten flack online for preaching abstinence by NOT allowing her kids to date until they are adults but says if they find themselves pregnant young then they should know being a mother is beautiful.

Do they look like they're living in Poverty to you?

That's mental illness if I ever saw it.

The way she's using her volume of kids as a badge of honor is weird. Like, that's her personality - that she has a bunch of kids. She just has to announce that she has a shit ton of kids so people pay attention to her.

But hey, that's their prerogative I suppose

1000 years from now there will be more of her left for people to remember than from you. Idk unless you are secretly famous or something.

Thats what kids are. Escaping death by continuing your bloodline. Theres plenty of powerful people who want others to not care if their genetic line dies out.

  1. I don't give a shit if people remember me 10 minutes after I'm dead. Let alone 1000 years. I'll be dead, what will it matter?

Seriously. I get tired of the kids as a legacy point of view. I'm dead. Why the fuck do I care what my family is doing? Granted, I hope to leave them with some form of wealth, but even then it won't matter. I'll be gone.

Maybe. Maybe not. Chances are they will. But theyre also the chance that they dont have kidsnof their own. Which means if Far-Queues kids have more kids, this HOA bloodline will thrive more than theirs

Well, I guess it's a little late for birth control in her case but the sad reality is we have men and women who just have kid after kid after kid without giving it a second thought and saddest of all, most people with multiple kids can't care for them financially or in any other way.

Thats fine for you, but the majority of the human race appears to not be satisfied making their purpose for existence to seek out self satisfaction. Personally I feel the people criticizing this family are being triggered by their primal fears of genetic competition, I mean unless shes expecting other people to raise/pay for them.

And? All those people have as much in common with him as they do with completely random strangers across the globe. I am about as much related to you as they are to him. Its not even worth mentioning. Once you go past a couple generations your genetic similarity to ancestors pretty much disappears. Forget 1000 years, even 100 is really stretching it.

sounds like a low tech version of a bar code and a scanner.

why not do that assign them all a prison number and tattoo a bar code on them just so she can keep their basic info straight?

Btw using Genghis is the most extreme example possible to prove an invalid point. Him and his male offspring would have fathered 1000s. That order of magnitude is a galaxy away from what this woman or anybody else now could ever achieve. The only thing remotely comparable would be prolific donors for sperm banks. But I just checked and even with all that, the connection to him only got found by an entire group of geneticists doing fancy deep dives into a huge set of Y chromosome data. A standard DNA test wouldn't show that. Despite the miniscule connection it caught headlines because of his reputation. The concept of some genetic immortality through offspring is silly because it all blends together quite quickly. You'd never be able to produce a distinct line that lasts beyond a few generations max without tons of inbreeding.

No his point was ensuring yourself continuing through history by having children. We were never talking about names. Thats actually a better way to do it. And they found those Ghengis relations through Y chromosomes though I don't know if using certain names associated with him were part of the methodology.

The name thing is a really good point actually. Even if that only works for certain groups. I know they big about that in Japan. Like you have a lot of families that are traceable going back very many generations. If there are no sons to carry on the name the family brings in an outside male who gets adopted with the family name and it just continues. As long as that name is alive all the people in that family from the past are still alive in a sense. Regardless of whether they genetically related.

Her kids look relatively normal, which I wasn't expecting given the weirdness of the arrangement.

Honestly, if somebody wants to have 17 kids -- and they can actually afford to have 17 kids -- I don't see the issue. It's different and I wonder how well the kids might be cared for (although I also realize plenty of people with 1-2 children can't handle them), although I guess they're going to have a huge support network. Automatically labeling it as mental illness, as some people just automatically did, feels a little wrong.
