It's really criminal what these corporations push upon people. Apologists will claim it's down to personal choice, but it gets harder and harder when you're surrounded by it and they do things like take up all clean water rights. If it was as simple as personal choice, the advertising industry wouldn't be as massive and pervasive as it is.

I actually watched the whole video.

Disgusting. Coca-Cola Co. should be doing all they can to help and educate these people instead of living off them like a parasite.

They really drink 2 liters a day? Fucking hell. I'm so glad I swore off soft drinks years ago.

The ones they actually drink down there are corn syrup. The cane sugar ones are a specialty that they mostly export to America.

I imagine that's an underestimate. Judging by the video, it looks like all they drink is coke since they can't drink the tap water.

I know people at work who drink a soft drink during every break. But I imagine they drink other things at home. I don't know of a lot of diabetics there.

That's weird, the link was free when I opened it but when I went back it asked for money. Anyway, yeah, I think the obvious problem is the intentional lack of access to drinking water to the public to push life threatening drinks on them. In the U.S., it's primarily a lifestyle choice. Seriously, fuck Coke

I quit drinking Coke when I was ten and starting having withdrawals. Like, caffeine is a highly physically addictive fucking drug and we're marketing it to children? When I figured out what was happening to me, I never drank it again.

this. I don't know where this misconception came from, but diet soda is way better for you than regular soda. That isn't to say it's a health food, it isn't good for you either, but between the 2 it is way better. It has no calories and little to no discernable effect on blood sugar. Regular soda is empty calories and a jolt of pure glucose to your system. It's a recipe for diabetes in about anyone but the most active people.

These studies are always questionable. There are alot of things you have to take into account. In fact that study ends with this:

However, further studies are required to conclude a direct correlation of artificial sweeteners with decreased insulin sensitivity.

In other words, we don't fucking know for sure, but we're hoping you skip this part.
