My grandfather died this morning, he didn't want a burial, so we're cremating him and having a "viewing". Came to over 7k just for that. Holy shit.
Just saw him yesterday when I drove him to the hospital for routine tests gets gets...got every month, he was in great shape, went to sleep last night and never woke up. He was 94. This is without the cost of an urn because we're renting one for the ceremony. My aunt and sister want to do the whole "use the ashes to make jewelry" thing.

I dont remember the numbers but my dad was less. He wanted no viewing. So he was cremated and just put in a box. My mom did buy a niche to put it in though.
