Right now its 6:09pm and nobody showed up.

Nobody, at any point, texted to update me on the appointment. I just texted them and said to reschedule. Im not going to let a stranger in my house after dark.

This is what happens when you pay shit wages and short staff your work crew. Oh, its cheaper for us to have two technicians handle the hundreds of work orders, so sux 2 b u!

Almost ten minutes later and nobody has even responded to my message. Of course, I have to go with whichever cheap-ass service the landlord approves, so theres an afternoon wasted trying to wait for work that hasnt gotten done.

Seriously, I get being thirty minutes late, or even an hour, but if youre going to be 3+ hours late, you call dispatch and tell them to get on the fucking phone and update the customer.

Or be like the punk ass plumber at the new house we just finished.

Tenants moved in and we found out he didn't even hook up the sewage line! The toilets backed up into the house!

I wasnt rude about it, but the tone of my message clearly conveyed annoyance and disappointment. Im trying to not be too irritated, but I literally planned my entire afternoon waiting for someone who ghosted me.

Being upset because the plumber didn't show up on time? That's a waste of time. Life is full of unforeseen obstacles. There are other things you can do to improve your situation. I think it's easy to let those tiny slights drive you nuts, and they add up to a lot of needless anxiety and wasted time. When you find yourself getting too upset about these things, you'll realize that you have tasks you can do to put things back in perspective and get back to the things that matter.

For example, suppose you were upset about the fact that you didn't get home until midnight. But maybe the only thing that really matters is that you did get home. You could have done much worse. Consider: You could have missed your son's baseball game, and his teacher might have even lost the entire evening's lesson, which would have been disastrous. What would you say to yourself if you were to consider that? Wouldn't you be more upset about missing the game than about missing a few minutes of your son's bedtime?

You might not believe it right now, but one day you'll look back at this plumber situation and realize that it is the best thing that has ever happened to you. Life's full of good things that have nothing to do with you. Enjoy them all while you can, and then when you look back on your life, you'll see that it was all good stuff, even the stuff that makes you upset.
