Damn they did a great job mashing the footage from the second movie with the modern arc.

The moment I was sold when Big John & Little John were stalking the house looking for Michael fucking Myers & it dawned on my what was happening, and then he killed them. One of them tried to welcome him. Its his house. Holy smoke.

I appreciate the fact that the gay couple (Big John and Little John) were not your stereotypical Hollywood gay couple. No over-the-top feminine behavior, no romantic scenes (I mean, gay guys are obviously all over each other, right?), the redecorated Myers house was not absurdly fashionable. The house looked nice, the guys acted normal, and they even had the guts to go looking for Michael.

I just like the fact that they were depicted as just normal people, as gay people are in real life. Just normal people. The movie didn't try to paint them as "haha look at these gay guys!"

And they stuck them with some of the most brutal deaths in a movie already noted for over-the-top kills. That's the kind of thing I was talking about when I said I just found it to be mean-spirited.

Think about it again. Whens the last time we see Little John?

(He was the tall one with like grey hair and a pirate vest, right?)

We only saw Big John get killed, and in a movie where a firefighter is buzz-sawed open, a poor old black lady has a shattered fluorescent tube light rammed into her neck, or even in the last movie when Michael literally made a human jack o' lantern from an officer's hollowed out cranium, getting stabbed and then receiving the Blade Runner treatment to the eyes isn't overtly mean-spirited. It's just Michael.

This

Also, it looked to me like he arranged their bodies nicely, and posed them together with ones head resting gently in the others lap (still attached to their bodies, by the way! I know how you think.)

instead of multilating them like every single other kill. Or did I miss something?

If so, and he did show them kindness after death, thats a side of Michael we dont see all too often. The only anchor to the behavior I can remember would be Little John welcoming him home, not resisting, and really being very brave (for a few seconds at least). Can we tell from the bodies how Little John died? ;-/

They came off to me as being the only classic cartoonish sort of character victims in the movie, were mostly showcased in the middle, were not distracting, and I interpreted them as an analogue to the producers, cast, and crew. I was instantly in like reactionary mode when I met them and noticed that they were a gay couple and I know that its been in the news a lot lately, but as someone else pointed out.... Theyre more than okay.

They get a very strong characterization interacting with the children (who totally got them) and then it turns into the handprint thing and then the big knife small knife thing and then we cut back to main story for a little (great decision because the knife joke was weird and pun intended needed a little time to sink in) and then it turns into the Marco Polo thing which used their names! :) (yes yes I know one is big and one is small, but Ive never seen it done like that) and dude...... Big John got it bad.

Michael has only killed a handful of people so brutally. And the thing with Little John as we discussed is beautiful in its own right.

Long story short, man. Their mistake was not running out the front door. They went looking for trouble with a couple little kitchen knives. It really handles the themes very well in a nutshell and drives home what I think the movie tried very careful to subliminally bring up the question of Michael Myerss sexuality. Not even really as even like subtext or anything, but sort of like..... can I just get them to question it somehow by throwing these elements out there at random?

Maybe they annoyed him with their Marco Polo Hunt-the-serial-killer thing, but when Little John came before him like that... it caused something deep within him to stir. Of course, for any number of imaginable reasons, Michael kills Little John anyway. For a split second, I thought (or hoped) that he wouldnt. Like, what happened here? It was fascinating.

I wonder if Michael flip-flopping their positions when duplicating the photograph was intentional, and if so, what it means...

The deaths felt mean spirited because they happened to a loving couple. The couple being gay had nothing to do with it.

I'm just at a point where I'm really starting to dislike brutal, gory horror movies. The brutality is all this movie has going for it, so I don't find much of anything enjoyable about this movie. That's all there is to it.

If you watch 1978, 2018, then Kills, it seems Michael becomes more and more brutal as time goes on. His M.O. changes from "creepily stalk people before eventually killing them" to ultimately "brutally massacre as many people as I can, as viciously as I can."

So I can understand not liking all the gore, but thematically it is at least consistent. The more you try to imprison or kill Michael, the more he transforms into a truly preternatural force with an ever growing singular focus on killing.

Now, maybe I'm just misunderstanding something, but my impression was that his singular focus was getting back to his sister's room so he could stare out her window for some reason. To the point that it kinda seems like if everybody had stayed out of his way, no one would have gotten killed at all.
