And AT&T has no fucks to give. I have three people at my house who cant do any work without it. No timeline for a fix, no apologies for the inconvenience.

And no, the work that needs to be done cannot be facilitated by using our phones as hotspots.

I can empathize with your pain, Mine would go out for days to weeks and frontier wouldn't care, even with someone in the house who has to constantly send information to the doctor. We had a guy show up to fix it and he hated us because we were rural and he had to drive out to us, and he didn't actually do any work while saying he did. It didn't get fixed until days later and even then they disconnected us while fixing someone else's a few days later

Yeah, 90% of people are stuck with their ISP, unless you want some slow ass Hughes Net. Im stuck with my ISP and the only advice I can give is to get really good at self diagnosing. Ive had phone techs swear up and down my modem is fine and I have to argue for 10 mins that its not connected.

Its reporting back to me, sir. See I just reset it.
Uh, no its not and no you didnt.

You might also want to put on your best phone-skills when talking to these people. They pretty much control your life. They can make sending a tech out a priority or put you on a list. So treat that operator like your long lost brother.

I feel for you. I was lucky the last time my at&t went out. The technician came out the same day and fixed it without entering. He said "The profile was set too high"

District may be the difference. I lived a block west when it took days.

This is the second time idiots have severed the neighborhoods internet line in the past year.

Something similar happened a few years ago at my job. Workers doing street work cut through utility lines underground and ended up killing voicemail for my entire organization for a few weeks.

I'm more than convinced that those kind of workers don't GAF about other utility lines.

Where I live - in an old Chicago neighborhood (lower west side) - we have telephone poles still. Once someone snagged my line when the temp was sub zero and it was hard getting a lineman willing to work in those conditions.

I used to do tech support for Frontier between 2007 and 2011. Terrible.
