I've watched my parents and others just sorta abandon their sense of empathy at that age and it's honestly just depressing.

Yeah, I could blame the news for portraying everyone that doesn't share their views as their "enemies".

Yeah, I could blame modern culture for basically convincing people at that age that they've paid their dues and no longer need to maintain the facade of a functional human to participate in civilized society.

But honestly, I don't want to blame anyone. I want this shit to stop. Give us time machines or something so my 40 year old dad can come here and beat the shit out of this miserable obstinate shell of a person that he's become.

It's just so fucking sad.

Are they actually doing anything indecent at all or do they just say things that bother you sometimes?

Regardless, I don't think that kind of attitude should be blamed on age or personality nearly as much as a reaction to how people perceive others are treating them.

It's just the general disregard for those around them. They park in fire lanes. They walk around naked in gym locker rooms. They either lack or ignore context around struggling service employees and berate them as a result.

So I guess a little of column A, but only when it bleeds into column B. I don't mind you being vocal about your opinions, even if they're not socially acceptable. But the moment that they're inconveniencing others because they believe themselves above the rules that they steadfastly hold others to is when I really can't tolerate them any longer.

They simply were better at hiding their true feelings when they were younger. They probably were always that way only with a mask on.

Anyone who treats a service employee bad is a piece of shit. Even when I had a bad day, they messed up my order, or I was simply in a bad mood I never felt the need to openly berate, talk down or take out my frustration to one.

It's a bit of a combination. People from the generations that are around that age tend to be worse people in the first place, too.

The boomers in Maryland have this weird thing where instead of parking in a parking spot like any normal person would, they pull up on the curb, turn on their hazards, and then go shopping which makes it a nightmare for everyone else trying to navigate the parking lot. Because walking an extra ~30 feet is far too inconvenient for them.

I see this happen about once every three or four times I go out which is way too fucking often. Most recent incident was Saturday when I was grabbing some alcohol and I thought some old lady was about to have a box carried to her trunk or something. Nope, we went in the store at the same time and she was in there longer than I was

What is it with Boomers and walking around naked in the gym locker room? Is it a generational thing, or will we be doing the same thing at their age?

lol A LOT of people do that LONG before that age. Hell, some don't consider exercising general, basic empathy and goodwill towards others in the first place, as that is usually confused with weakness and self sacrifice. Selfish, heartless fucks who are like that are amongst the worst of mankind.

people mostly stopped feeling the social pressure that made them repress their true feelings. mannerisms/respectability has a trickle-down effect on it's people, starting with it's leaders.

America is pretty largely miseducated, and much of this propaganda-laced miseducation is also tied to people's identity. that's a whole other bag to unpack though lol.

edit: remember when people used to be embarassed to look like the people being recording during their worst moments? now it doesn't matter lol. people see phones in their face but are too fired up to care that it's about to go viral and maybe even be on CNN, lmao.

While it is not true across the board, I do notice younger people are much more polite.

The Boomers are reverting back to the children they always have been. Kinda sucks

It's a generational thing. You couldn't be out of the closet back then. So walking around naked in the locker room and having conversations with other naked men was how you could be "totally straight" but still see a naked man.

generational

when boomers went to school, they would get naked together in their locker rooms and I think it was also normal to shower in a big room together. that's no longer the norm for american schools.
