I especially hear this from other Asians (mainly Chinese) that they see us as trashy, untrustworthy, two faced, etc.

People talking bad about us shouldnt act like theyre perfect either because I definitely see their flaws whether they realize it or not

Years ago on another forum centered around anime, there was a user who kept calling Southeast Asians (which presumably included Filipinos) "dirty Asians". I thought that was weird at the time, but looking back, it definitely was racist.

My city has oodles of Filipinos. Pretty cool people. Seem to walk hand in hand with Indonesian peeps.

One of my friends from high school was from...the Philippines I'm assuming?

She stopped talking to me abruptly one day though so idk. Pretty normal response.

unfortunately thats typical with our people. they pretend they dont know you out of nowhere.

If you drew her art,she took that as a sign of romance and she got shy (even if no intentions were behind that)

A lot of it in Korea and Japan stems from the fact that they come from an impoverished country and as a result immigrate to non-impoverished countries to find opportunities. Many of them become mail-order brides or overstay their work Visas to avoid having to go back and a lot of them get taken advantage of for sex trafficking in this area, so they, as a whole, have to deal with the stigmas associated with those groups.

It doesnt help that they look, speak and act differently in cultures that are hugely homogeneous, so the feeling of the other is amplified significantly.

It's the government. Duterte has gained major traction in recent years and Pinoys suffer because of it. The same way the CCP is rightfully shunned and some people are ignorant and blame it on Chinese people that have nothing to do with the CCP.

I've played Lineage 2 (An MMORPG) with a lot of filipinos over the years and they're really cool people.

Same thing happens in Mexico. Darker skinned indigenous people are looked down on and people with Spanish/European features are praised. Just the term for thicker darker coarse hair is "pelo malo" which literally translates to Bad Hair.

Can't speak for anywhere else, but here in NZ, I do notice that Filipino people tend to get lumped in more often with Pacific Islanders than with other Asian ethnicities - and in turn, anti-Pasifika racism is far more common than anti-Asian racism here.

I didn't even know this was a thing. Other then the morons who blame covid on Asians in general, I didn't know there was any hate directed at Filipinos specifically. At least not in America. I can't speak to how other Asian countries feel.

Its a thing between Asians mostly. A lot of Chinese dont like us very much.

Yeah but the Chinese tend to hate everyone I've noticed. I don't think they get along with any of their neighbors at all. Especially more so now with China becoming increasingly nationalist.

Many seafarers I know speak poorly of them for being by and large very unskilled and unprofessional workers who only get hired because they're much cheaper (bringing down job opportunities for everyone). I don't think it's fair to generalize like that though and I've never met a Phillipino in person.

They also seem to think they are high class because they live in rich/affluent neighborhoods here in America

I've met many Koreans who hate the Chinese, many Japanese who hate the Thai/Taiwanese, Filipinos who hate the Koreans, and they ALL seem to hate the Vietnamese who in turn hate everyone else

I dont know asian history but I'm guessing its a commie/non commie thing

I've never felt any disdain towards me for being Filipino at all. If anything, it feels like we're the ones who are hateful to others (mostly Koreans/Chinese) since a lot of them go to the Philippines to study English.

Same generic reasons there's targeted bigotry against other groups. Tribalism, propagated stereotypes, and confirmation bias.

I've met some shady and even sadistic people who identified as Filipino, but I've known plenty of others who were the opposite. Its just weak-minded to blame the entirety of the demographic for the bad apples. It's laziness of haters too weak to bother differentiating at the individual level.
