So yesterday I was BBQing some tri tip steaks outside and I heard a bunch of insistant meows. There was a tiny white and black cat meowing up at me. It seemed hungry so I ran upstairs and got some tuna and put it on a plate and it started eating away. Eventually it's (brother I think) came around but it was much more skittish and didn't want to come near me. I moved back so it could eat as well.

I put out water for them as well, and then put together a box with a t-shirt in it for them to be comfortable in and put it outside. They stayed around awhile but then left. I put out more food/water and the box and went to bed.

Next morning I looked out and only one of them was there sadly and it ran off as soon as I looked out (it was the skittish one). I went into town and bought some kitten food for them and put it out (been out all day) but they didn't eat it. Before I left to get it, I did put out more tuna and that was gone when I got back (but could have been tons of other animals around here).

I don't know if I should have trapped them/closed the door yesterday and kept them inside, they didn't look malnourished and they might have a mom around here they are returnign to, or even be a niehgbors kittens.

But now I'm worried about them, especially the white one which let me pet it yesterday, since i didn't see it at all today. It's pretty cold at night here as well (40's) so I'm worried about them freezing.

I really don't want to trap them though, this is a very wild area and cats can easily live outside and be free here. Tons of mice etc for them to eat. Really scared for them though and just wish I knew they were allright.

I would bring them inside if they wanted but they didn't seem to want that right now and I won't trap something/force it unless they are in serious danger etc. I know there are wild cats around here (seen them in my walks and petted a few even) so many live fine in the area, but they are kittens, so it's really scary.

Anyway, here is a pic of them both eating yesterday. I hope I did the right thing by letting them be free. I don't think I'll stop worrying till I see them alive and ok again.

Cute kittens! Yeah sometimes cats and kittens are wild. I was recently watching this old guy who had a sanctuary built for wild cats that lived in the steel works until it was demolished. He tends to try and home the kittens but knows the cats are far to wild to be tamed. Maybe it's not a bad idea to try and home these kittens but only if they want you to help them.

Haven't seen them this morning at all, and the food is still out there since yesterday.

Hopefully they are ok, but I guess cats do live in the wild and maybe they were just passing through.

Makes me really want a cat/cats again though, but unless they are outdoor and I just feed them, i need to wait till I know where I am going to live long term.

Mother or father cat came by and ate all the cat food I put out, there was a mound of it, took it like 30 minutes. Didn't bring the kittens so they didn't get any :{

It's really fat so it's either eating tons of mice etc, or being cared for/getting fed by others. I hope the kittens are being fed as well.
